Have you ever avoided an opportunity to see what an internet friend looked like in real life, because you preferred to picture them as their OC/'Sona instead and wanted to protect that facade?

 No.92498

Yes...

except close friend .

 No.92500

yep, cause thats what the entire fandoms about, a facade

 No.92503

I've always been more interested interacting with the person's suit rather than whose inside it. Even when I'm suiting and go to headless lounge and see the horrible looking person inside. I'm like put your head back on as your suit is much easier on my eyes.

 No.92504>>92507 >>92816 >>93593

You get to choose every single detail of what your fursona looks like. If you want to be a big dragon or a little mouse, it's your all choice. Your human body though, there's no option to choose what body you're born into. So I think your fursona represents you better than your real body, and that's what I would rather see.

 No.92507>>92509 >>92512 >>92573

>>92504

this always gets dystopian when you remember to show your fursona to people, unless you can draw, you're gonna have to cough up the cash.

your physical body at least came at zero cost.

 No.92509>>92524

>>92507

Then you have to learn to draw. It's not hard. Art is the whole basis of this fandom.

 No.92512>>92524

>>92507

You have a low bar for what you consider "dystopian". The general rule of life is if you want something, you can either learn how to do it yourself so you can have it for free, or else you have to pay somebody to do it for you. Everything in life works this way.

 No.92524>>92877

>>92509

>Art is the whole basis of this fandom.

Buying/begging for art is the basis of the fandom. The vast majority of members aren't artists. or remotely creative.

>>92512

That's not really a general rule at all when it comes to the internet, let alone life at large.

Want to join the retro gaming community? All you need is a computer or phone (as standard a device as a refrigerator in 2018. yes, it almost always costs money to get one, but it's also something parents tend to buy for their kids, or just have in the house) and an internet connection (ibid.) How about the literature community? All the classics are online. Films? Piracy is easier than buying legit! Then all you have to do is hop on one of the thousands of free sites and chatrooms for discussing those things. Your familiarity with the material and your ideas is what will get you into discussion, and your self-actualisation results from your position in the community.

You can force the rule

>learn how to do it yourself so you can have it for free, or else you have to pay somebody to do it for you

to apply to basic socialisation if you really want to, but even autists can sit beside each other and go trainspotting for free. I certainly consider the other side of the equation dystopian: that we're fast approaching the point where openly paying for friends will be widely socially acceptable.

Not really. If I can find out what somebody looks like right off the bat, I like to get that out of the way asap. You see I'm a big proponent of physiognomy and phrenology. Good tools you can use to basically tell how likely someone is to be into pedoshit or murder your family based on how fucked up looking they are. I'm also just really shallow and don't want to associate with ugly people.

 No.92570>>92579

Are you a wheraboo or legitimately have reasons to believe in crap like "skull grows around the brain and follows its shape"?

 No.92573>>92585 >>92849

>>92496 (OP)

Yes. Like fursuiters taking off their heads at conventions, me seeing the pudgy, neckbearded loser on the other side of a cute character poisons their sona for me. It ruins the magic.

>>92507

You can draw for free. It just so happens that, like getting a good looking physical body, it takes work and effort to get good art skill.

 No.92579>>92596

>>92570

For human skulls, it definitely does grow around the brain. Where do you get your science from?

 No.92585

>>92573

i dont fuck murrsuiters if they dont have there head on before hand, nobody wants to see your human body below the suit, its why you bought the fursuit in the first place.

 No.92596>>92617

>>92579

Well, yes, but as far as I recall, phrenology suggests that the shape of a person's skull can tell a trained person a lot about the minutiae of their personality. Loosely-related is the belief that brain size equates to intelligence, and a person with an unusually-large brain must be smarter.

 No.92617>>92771 >>93584

>>92596

Why do you think people with lead poisoning are less intelligent and more prone to commit crimes? It's because lead poisoning reduces overall brain size, especially that in the prefrontal areas. There is a direct correlation between brain volume and criminality.

 No.92771>>92776 >>93593

>>92617

Then why do females commit less crimes than their male counterparts?

 No.92776

>>92771

You're comparing apples to oranges. There are going to be various physiological factors going on in the background by virtue of the difference in sex that would need to be accounted for. Now if you said look at crime in a female only sample group and then see if there is a brain volume correlation you might have something there.

I've got to ask, are you a knot head or something? Because you're getting really touchy about this skull stuff.

And you have to compete with people who just pay and people who work for pay.

alot of furries with nice fursonas are ugly and or fat and or ugly and fat . no thanks

>That's not really a general rule at all when it comes to the internet, let alone life at large.

It's how creations work. You either make them yourself for the cost of materials and an industrial canister of elbow grease, or you buy them prepackaged with a nice red bow on top.

The tradeoffs of acquiring a computer are a very intense example of this. You could buy a premade computer for a price and only exert yourself to turn it on. You could buy/salvage components to put together for far cheaper than that, albeit with far more effort. Alternately, you could hand craft every piece from simple materials and it might take you your entire life.

The difference with most other skills is that you aren't competing with industrial miniturization and an economy of scale.

shoehorn and gloss

 No.93577

I deliberately try to meet as many as I can in-person because I think people are interesting, and it's the only occasion I got to judge the differences between someone's online and IRL lives.

 No.93584

>>92617

>There is a direct correlation between brain volume and criminality

Not exactly. The important factor isn't just volume. It gets smaller and is severely damaged in the process. And yes, an underdeveloped brain, which is usually smaller, is a problem. I'm talking about something different: an old claim that the larger your brain, the smarter you are, which posits that, for example, a person with an unusually-large head must be unusually intelligent.

No, but you can control how your body develops.

>Then why do females commit less crimes than their male counterparts?

Last I checked, women actually commit more crimes related to stalking and "simple assault" than men, and also make up a significant amount of rapists and sexual abusers: https://archive.fo/tIsv3

>Oh, but we’re not done yet. Let’s turn our attention to the juvenile justice system, where a 2013 U.S. Department of Justice report found that about one out of ten of the nation’s 70,000 or so incarcerated or detained youths have been sexually assaulted and raped while in confinement.

>About 2,000 children were raped or sexually tortured more than 11 times in the study year. Meanwhile, an additional 1,000 children that year were raped by detention facility staff, with female employees representing an astounding 89 percent of the rapists and sexual abusers.

>Then there’s the nation’s public education system. A 2004 report by Hofstra University found that the amount of rape and sexual abuse committed by school system employees was a rather tame 100 times greater than the amount of rape and sexual abuse committed by Catholic priests, but for some bizarre reason, that alarming finding never got circulated by the barons of big media.

>According to that report, an estimated 44 percent of those sexually abused by school employees in the U.S. each year are male, with 84.8 percent of the attacks and assaults perpetrated by females.
