The opposite happens in the west; there's criticism of our own government, but it's overrated as it causes people/organizations to restrict political ideologies anyway. Combine that with the fact that content is either offlimits, propaganda, or paywalled.

Don't get me wrong, it's less worse than what those countries have, but the disregard of copyright law has given them an edge. They're nearly able to compete with the west with the skills that they obtained from that pirated content.

I don't think that Russia's main goal is to align with nazis, it's to cause discord so that the west would lose interest on other countries to focus on their internal issues.
