I'm probably in the minority but I wholeheartedly dislike it. I'd rather see artists drawing new characters that reflect their own imagination than reproducing something from a video game or TV show. It's also capitalism taken to an absurd degree. "You've watched the movie. You've bought the merchandise. Now let our franchise enter your sexual fantasies as well."

It's also loosely a kind of cuckoldry, but mental in nature. The artist has their own original ideas they could be creating but instead they're being voluntarily "cuckolded" by the company that created the show/game into creating free pornographic advertisement for them. This is especially true of artists whose career is disproportionately committed to a certain franchise, like MLP or Pokémon. It's gross to me seeing people whose fursonas are modified versions of characters from such shows. Like, you can choose absolutely anything your mind can imagine to personify yourself as... and you opt to choose a pre-existing character from a TV show, modify it slightly, and say that's you? Come on, dude. That's no different than drawing art someone else's fursona and claiming it's you because the hairstyle is different. /rant

Morgana is my favorite character from Persona 5. I was legitimately worried when the game ended if he was going to completely disappear and was really happy when he came back. Normally I somewhat dislike when furries sexualize characters but Morgana has mostly been saved from this, I haven't seen that much porn of him compared to some of the other furry characters. Probably because of his diminutive chibi stature.

For me it depends on how the character is portrayed. Like if the character is supposed to be strong willed and demure and they're portrayed like a slut I dislike it more.

I don't think pornography of their characters counts as advertisement. They generally really dislike getting that sort of negative attention.

I do agree that I think furries are too obsessed with popular culture characters and should focus on making their own but a recurring theme with furry artists is despite being artists they tend to be really uncreative and just copy what they see instead of trying to create something better. To the point where I don't even find it surprising when a furry artist admits to me that he's incapable of drawing things that aren't pokemon and can't draw people.
