>And what sort of world do you imagine for anthropomorphic animals? Either realistically or ideally.
Realistically; It's hard to imagine a social species still having fur if they were able to evolve intelligence, due to fur being a hotbed of parasites and nasty smells. It's also hard to imagine them identifying with clothing. If anything I'd imagine shaving hair to reduce heat would be more of a thing.
Their faces would also have to evolve differently as the human face has an enormous amount of muscles to facilitate facial expressions which animals don't have, they show expressions through smells or body language. Iirc it's speculated the reasons humans evolved complex facial muscles is to tell if someone is lying or not.
In terms of idealized perception I don't see animals evolving the same kinds of clothes as humans. Especially pants. Humans for most of history wore loose fitting garments like robes that were really easy to make. And a tail hole would just become awkward and would chafe really easily if they wanted to do something like bend down or pick something up. I'd imagine they'd wear some kind of undergarment and evolve more fur in their nether regions to avoid having to wear pants. And would instead just wear torso based clothing. That is if they don't evolve away from tails altogether since they wouldn't need to balance while walking on two legs to begin with.
It's really a shame that furries don't generally consider realism or low fantasy when they world build for their characters because I really really like it when authors or artists consider realism when creating fantasy. Similar to how Star Trek tried to explain how the ship physically was able to move faster than light, or how the phasers worked. The most realistic portrayal of furry characters I've seen tends to be from children's books like Redwall where they anthropomorphize very little and the characters are just animals who are somehow able to stand upright and wear loose clothing. This tends to also age the best and look the least cringey because you don't have to worry about things like the uncanny valley. Unsurprisingly universally these projects tend to be made by non-furries (that we know of at least)
