Alright, this is one of the best webcomics, but that's not saying a ton since most webcomics are shit. The series itself and its creator aren't exactly the best or even great, but the books are okay. The characters are highly attractive however, which is the best thing. You should read a few pages of it online so you can know the characters, and continue if you like it. It really isn't that great at all, but it's still something to waste your time with cute visuals and feels, even if the story/author need huge improvement.

Been reading BCB for years, it has it's ups and downs but what made BCB good is the character development even if it seems like it ground to a halt for a while... it's still progressing. Her ability to show emotion doesnt come near Lackadaisy level of expertise, but she's pretty OK at minimalist styles and body language.
It's unique because the artist actively takes liberties to explore different styles on purpose, although a lot of it stays the same like her roots in anime symbol drawing never realistic there's many different experiments after the first book, like the all traditional water-color chapters there's plenty of really great vibrant chapters as well, as an artist I can appreciate a lot of it and even though style shifts can be jarring they each have their own charm. What helps a lot is that Taeshi really knows how to work with colors and many pages are pleasant to look at unlike eye-bleeding gaudy sparkledog trash like Zoophobia.
No.4508
I tried reading this comic because I saw some (quite decent) smut work of it and the art style looked ok. But, it's just so fucking gay I ended up subconsciously sucking a hundred dicks 1/3rd of the way into the first chapter.
Regardless, I saw a post on a US Airforce veteran sending his service medal to the authors to thank them for making the comic since it (apparently) made them feel some normalcy while deployed. That's kinda cool I guess, clearly not for me though.

This, hard. Plus Taeshi is quite possibly the most annoying person on earth.
I used to be pretty active on the BCB forums, and I actually posted in the IRC for a long time after the forums got shut down. I liked the comic well enough because I had no standards at the time to read it regularly, but when the art style changed and changed again to the chibi style, I just couldn't take it any more since it looked like shit. I voiced my displeasure and pretty much got run out of the IRC because I did not have the right opinions. I still talk to a few of the people from the forums, but I have not read the comic in over two years.
From there, I moved on to Dreamkeepers, which has a fan group populated by decent open minded people and an artist that isnt constantly threatening to kill themselves over the slightest criticism or offhand remark.
No.5054
Extreme midget style was only a phase, and I tend to stay away from snowflake artists like taeshi and just look at the comic.
Still prefer the more serious style right around book 2-3, the liberal style chibi miget desu watercolors didn't start until late in book 4 and book 1 is still drawn like trash, if you're doing to redraw some chapters in a book then it should be all of them.
No.7733
I thought this webcomic was the shit back in like 2011, but looking back it really wasn't that great. I stopped being an active reader of it about 3 years ago and I haven't looked back since. From what I've heard it hasn't gotten any better, so I doubt I'm missing out on much. Honestly, I think part of the reason I loved it so much was because I thought Lucy was hot, and at the time I let it give me intense feels.
I lurked the forum back when it was still up, and I remember thinking to myself "Wow, Taeshi is kind of unpleasant."
No.7747
The big problem with BCB is how much it dragged character development, it was moving at a good pace for a while in the earlier chapters but then it's been 5 fucking years and Mike still hasn't had a redemption arc after he was a complete asshole to the point of Lucy being removed from the comic.

I guess because BCB's fanbase is so stupid that they'll buy a damaged book for full price. But I guess they're doing it to show that they're honest? But to me, it makes them look even MORE Jewish because they're not giving you a discount from the original price even though the book quality is noticeably damaged. I guess it's alright they scam though, as they have SO MANY DISCOUNTS ALL THE TIME. Probably because the book lost popularity or the jew just actually NEEDS the money, while most of her fans are poor and can't afford around $150 or just don't want to pay that much for what you can get online for free. Or they're dumb enough to think that the extra content is worth shit. Oh well. I don't know, but the tone of their IRC is "brand loyalty." You've got Apple, Nintendo, and Valve drones all over. Don't go in.
The comic is having an actually decent chapter, again, before the next 2 year stretch of monotony. The quality of drawings is never consistent, with the best examples being either done in pencil or digital color. Water color did not stick well. It sometimes looks like the whole "STOP CALLING US FURRIES" fiasco had a negative effect on the artwork.
The best examples of the story are all over the place, though; the years have not treated this one well. It's probably also not helping that the author either makes or breaks her reputation, and Oliver seems to have a tendency to burn bridges. Reviewers (not including the Bad Webcomics Wiki, though I consider many of its authors justified) don't seem to enjoy BCB either. I feel bad for someone who reviews webcomics as a hobby. They are not a rewarding medium.

>All the drama orbits around her when she comes back, including the cast doing a complete 180 in personality
Written like a real character my ass. Most of the cast was created when the author was a kid, and just like her, they really haven't grown up much. There's some development, but they're all still children on an emotional and mental level. I don't mean teenagers, I mean children.
>Explain her mental disorders and smart personality, then.
A "smart personality" isn't a flaw. Where the fuck did you get that?
And what mental disorders? The ones mentioned sometimes and barely shown at all? The ones that have no lasting effect on her life? The ones that, along with her attempted suicide, apparently provided no issues when coming back to the town? If anything, she's more confident than ever. Even then, that's still an aspect of a mary sue if it's done wrong, and boy is it done very wrong.
There's nothing wrong with liking it, but the comic is absolute garbage. Better than most webcomics out there, but it's still trash. You're probably better off reading Dreamkeepers, Endtown, and Lackadaisy instead. I don't know why I like the porn so much, but I wish there was more
