So since most anthros are based on well known critters like lions, wolves, etc., are there any super obscure species y'all are into

I know people are gonna start posting rhinos or anteaters or other uncouth choices eventually, but in regards to naturally cute animals, it's bonkers how there are so few people with Marten characters. They're practically fox ferrets, you'd think they'd be far more popular than they are.

Seals are very nice, definitely need more. This is the only seal character I know of (shame the owner is sjw trash)

Would love to see more koalas, anteaters too. Tapirs could make great designs

I know Red Pandas are somewhat well know to furries, but for some reason I can't seem to find good art of them. They're always draw with human proportions instead of how their bodies are actually shaped. Same goes for Otters.

Alpine Ibexes are nice looking too, but they're pretty much just fancy goats.

My man, Mustelidae in general are all underappreciated, well, except for maybe otters, I think those are a little more popular than martens or ermine, at least. Do you have a marten character by chance?

>>68455

Do you mean feral-like in design, or just having an anthro's limbs/facial structure proportional to a red panda's?

>Do you have a marten character by chance?

Naw, I've never been able to connect with mustelid characters after owning a ferret myself. They just hit too close to home, for whatever reason. I miss the lil fucker.

(pictured is not mine)

That's sad to hear, anon. Cute ferret though. I wonder if that drinks any good though.

It is! I bought a couple bottles the other day. It's pretty light, nutty aftertaste, not too hoppy. Pretty good beer. UK and Canada only though as far as I can tell.

>Do you mean feral-like in design, or just having an anthro's limbs/facial structure proportional to a red panda's?

Like cartoon or zootopia proportions where it matches the actual anatomy of the animal. I wouldn't say feral, but close to that, like the actual animal just upright and with hands or human-like hands. Something about human proportions on something obviously more animal feels off, I wish artists would draw characters more like the animal they're based off.

 No.68594

>>68583

This a metric ton.

But, more than this, I wish artists'd draw them with some proper variance in size.

It's so rare to have some good size-difference type stuff that isn't full on macro/micro.

 No.68600

>>68583

As a fellow red panda enthusiast, it's because of the torso and abdomen. It throws off all the other proportions when they are given human-like center, which inevitably results in a more canid appearance. This is true in all mustalidae. Take the tail for example, which is one of first things people might notice about the panda. It's very long and fluffy for their bodies, but when you shrink the center you end up with a tail that looks either too long or too short.

Madagascar probably fucked me up for life.

And about every other furry animal

 No.68758>>68802

Not many musk deer (only 25 pics on e621, although as a newfag idk how valid that is as a judge). The actual fangs are kinda gnarly, but I could see it being some teenage tumblrina’s trigendered mess of a fursona.

Also not nearly enough kooikerhondjes, which is kinda understandable considering they look generic.

That's something I've always disliked about certain artists or parts of the fandom. It kinda works for dogs or animals with similar proportions, but for really stubby animals, it's absolutely irksome.

 No.69053

>>68802

Yeah that’s true. Those deer were made to be turned into anthropomorphic short stacks and fucked beyond recognition.

 No.69155>>69182

it is always sad to see how little the furries explore the marine world, so much variety... we always end making canines and felines

the only popular fish are sharks and not too much more

Cherrypicking bad art doesn't prove your point.

There has to be an oc for every damn mammal that exist in this world, I can understand why we furries are hated.. Heh..
