I think it was a false flag by Neer to cover up him fucking up the site (again). If you really wanted to fuck up FA and leak the source code, you would've done so by publishing it online for everyone to see, sort of like those secret FA mod logs that were published on /furry/ awhile back. It just seems too convienent a story to say that some hacker broke in, copied the database, and then distributed it to a bunch of people on flash drives at a convention, and among all these people who got the drives, not a single person has stepped forward and presented proof. Why would anyone bother going through all that trouble for such an ineffective method of fucking over FagAffinity? And now that the drives are supposedly distributed, why not just leak the source code online NOW for the rest of us to see? Furthermore, if the stated goal really was to destroy FA by making the source code known, why give it out to a bunch of random furfags at a convention? The point of publishing it online is so someone can either exploit FA themselves or make an improved mirror; the average furfag hasn't a clue on how to do either of these, so the point of publishing it online is so that it reaches such a wide audience that there's bound to be at least one other furfag who will do this.
Again, it all just doesn't add up to me. I think Neer is lying to cover up how he fucked up the site and since he has no one to blame but himself, he invented this imaginary hacker to take the blame. Let's not forge he has a history of blaming other staff members for his own fuckups.
