It's a matter of varying style and direction. One is about monsters as natural fauna, and the other is a cuhrayzee cyber adventure with cuhrayzee monster pals, and the designs mostly reflect that.

Personally, the digimon designs can get a little too crazy for my tastes.

Pokemon = monsters as natural fauna like 41226 said.

Digimon = beyond like the 3rd-4th stage are just Pokemon involved in an industrial accident.

While I like the far better display of intelligence that Digimon have that's where their positives end and either they tie or lose to Pokemon.

Joke's on you, I don't even like the games. They're boring, grindy, and I never could really get the appeal of samey fights that immediate go your favor if you simply use one single unit every battle and get said guy to be massively overleveled.

'Least that was my perspective during my short runthroughs.

FFT was made by a different dev homie, it's just an upgraded Tactics Ogre with a final fantasy skin. FF is a pretty gay IP, but man, that game is versatile as fug. Just as versatile as FE5 where you can pull off crazy strats like this.
