Here's a project that anyone can contribute to. It's all web-based and super easy to use, no programming required. Go wild.

a-aren't there things like this that are actually designed for collaborative editing

Dude, nice find. I might actually find a use for this. I have other writing obligations just at the moment but I'll fiddle with this and see where I get. Probably just end up writing a porno or something since apparently that's the only thing I'm good at anymore.

>collaborative editing
I can't say I'm interested in group work just at the moment, but their ActiveLit product might be worth looking into. I'm not sure if that's really meant for what you have in mind, but it's worth a shot.

Making a /fur/ knockoff CoC would be kind of fun. Is that what you're aiming for, OP? How in depth is this?
Do you need to know much about coding, or can you skip most of that shit?
▶ No.35949
>>35948
You don't need to know any code. It's basically flowcharts (except they don't look like flowcharts).
▶ No.35950
>>35948
The website promises a visual editor with natural language display, so I guess kind of like GameMaker. There's also a scripting language, though I would imagine that's largely relegated to the more advanced stuff. Also it says something about XML, which I guess is an option if you're some crazy hands-on person who likes using vim for everything.

Yeah it'll be one of those knockoffs that turns out to be better than the original. Can't believe Fenoxo is getting $30k/m off paytreon to sit around and do nothing. All the "programming" he did was write some stuff at the beginning of CoC which ended up getting rewritten by someone else anyway, and he hasn't done jackshit since then. He doesn't even work on the game anymore, the people on /hgg/ do. Why is it even a thing anymore? Lilith's throne was better tbh.

This is actually a pretty cool idea.

Well that took forever but I got character selection working. The idea is that you make rooms for every character and then hide the exits to those rooms when you select their character.

No. Bushy is a shy, straight young fox. Heck we could make him Catholic too.
Part of his appeal is that he's literally "the straight fox." He's genuinely freaked out when N8 tries to molest him.

Finally got a chance to fiddle around with Quest today; pleasantly surprised by its intricacy. I was able to create a "magic chest" item that functions as a container that you can carry and as a room that you can enter and exit. Required some pretty counter-intuitive scripting, but I got it to work. Really confuses the hell out of the built-in map system, though.

I like playing MUDs where you can make your character into a room that can be entered :3
▶ No.37830
>>37823
You can make characters into rooms that can be entered using this engine. Everything uses the same base, so characters objects rooms they all kind of overlap. It just confuses the hell out of the map system if you have rooms that can move around.

No problem mate. I've been trying to find a good simple way to build an interactive adventure kind of deal. I tried doing it myself from scratch but never quite found the design I wanted to get all of the moving pieces to fit together (C is definitely not the language to use for games heavily reliant on string processing) so I'm really digging this tool. If I want to actually make a publishable project I'll probably still have to go homebrew (I have a few design ideas that I'm not sure how to implement here) but I'm having fun with this project as it is for the time being.
