Sounds like a good idea for a project. I haven't played Morenatsu yet, but I'm interested.

What sucks about the original tools used, and how much of it wasn't finished?

You could maybe set up a project on gitgud.io for us to arrange the text into. Does it all have to be rewritten manually?

No idea. Someone could just play through the game or watch a playthrough of it all and copy it as it goes, but I was kind of hoping someone would have the know-how or connections to just dump all the text from the files or the people that wrote the english translation or whatever.

The problem with the original tools used was that it was made in japan, in a japanese visual novel engine, which means you can't play it without messing around with OS settings so that the OS can recognize the Japanese stuff.

Did you check the Morenatsu MTL forum? There was a translation section and IIRC they posted a lot of the progress on there when new routes came out.

tbh I think Kouya's route was pretty lackluster. Shun's was mostly good but MC goes super fucking creepy on his route that I definitely want to change it a bit

Sorry it took me a bit to get around to it.

I found a set of tools for extracting and packing .xp3 files. The extracted files and the tools are in the /fur/ volafile. (check the share thread)

I'm not sure which files would have the text you're looking for.

Well shit. Looking at the output I got there were problems extracting a lot of the files. Files that I suspect are most of the text. I'll try to figure out what's wrong, but maybe someone else can try it too.

I totally could, or geeze might as well just make a brand new VN for the cast of /fur/. I'm biased towards bushy though :3c. I would totally put it together, but we need people that'd actually put in the resources: background art, UI design, sprites, etc. As for the writing, I think that'd be best to be a group effort. Buuuut such talk would deserve its own thread. If anyone else shows interested, maybe such a thread ought to be made.
