step up, shitters

 No.125405

I've found so much higher quality roleplay from people who write quality over quantity. I still remember a few years back when I thought length was everything.

But god damn 45 minutes to write any sort of roleplay related post is nuts.

>tfw you haven't roleplayed much so your typing speed has decreased so everything takes two to three times as long to write unless you're really in the zone

>I actually proofread what I write

>I'm constantly thinking of ways to add variety to both my wording and grammar so that I don't notice your bulge as I lock a collar around your neck as I notice that I have a boner

>I spend time ensuring that my plots and behavior are believable and consistent, which results in more intricate and enjoyable worldbuilding

>You have plenty of time to go off and have a life, post at your leisure, enjoy occasional high-quality treats throughout your day

>I'm the bad guy

The best part is when their response is 1/3 as long and they don't even bother to capitalize or spellcheck.

>Write a paragraph or so for every post, usually taking around 15 minutes

>Partner just writes a couple sentences at best for his response, usually taking less than a minute, even tries to force the RP into kinks I'm clearly not a fucking fan of that I tried to tell him multiple times about

>Even has the balls to tell me that it was great and we should continue when I clearly didn't get any joy from it and tried to tell him to stop pushing these shitty ass kinks multiple times

>Can't even learn how to make my own RP better because the partners that are better than me stop in the first few posts because it's not doing anything for them and the partners worse than me are always 2nd grader level that wouldn't know a good idea if it ran them over

>Takes months to find somebody to replace the shitter due to obscure kinks which might just end up being another goddamn shitter so you practically have to keep playing with the shitter you currently have because it could very well be the last person on the whole site with your kinks

I just want to scream.

Agreed. Note RP is where you go if you want everything to be lengthy and perfect without any real time constraints. Chat is supposed to be quick and spontaneous.

>Agree to a note RP against my better judgment

>Keep it going with about a 2 hour gap between notes over a weekend

>Enjoy it so far, slows down over the week.

>By the next weekend I’ve got something else I’m looking to play

>Note RP still going on, but no longer my current big interest

>Slows down even more, note RP is getting in the way of other RP I want to do.

>Resentment is starting to kick in, not enjoying it anymore.

It’s about then I usually cut it off. Of course it’s mid scene, but what can you do? Keep going in the hope I make my partner happy despite no longer wanting to play? What if they feel the same way? What if we are both killing each other slowly?

 No.125670

Lots of note roleplay are dead on arrival. Most of them won't last a week.

>Start roleplay on notes

>Your partner never replies back and couldn't even get one message done.

>Start the note roleplay.

>Partner loses interest within a week because they were never mentally prepared for this shit.

>They probably just want to bust a nut within the hour.

>Should of just played on F-Chat instead.

The biggest hurdle is what >>125668 mentioned. Don't play on notes unless you can keep yourself motivated for a lengthy period of time.

When I see someone who is super ecstatic to begin, 9/10 times they are going to burn themselves out right away. Calm the fuck down. Because we aren't going to finish this roleplay today, tomorrow, or the day after.

I won't deny, this can be brutal if your roleplay is lasting several months. For a certain roleplay I did, I was only replying once a week. This roleplay had already gone on for half a year. Eventually, we did finish! I could tell my partner was a bit saddened because she really wanted to start another roleplay with me again, but I have to make room for other people now.

Doing play-by-email strategy games like Dominions perfectly prepared me for f-list notes.

And actually having some studying experience. It's weird how little of it you need to pass most courses.

 No.125732

>>125702

>>125670

I pretty much have to primarily do Note RP because of my absolute shit schedule, so it's easy for me to not get too attached to any that I start up. That way, at worst, I shrug and move on when a partner inevitably stops replying, and at best I'm pleasantly surprised every time I get a new reply. That's how I keep myself going, at least.

 No.125749

I've had a few rps that nearly went to noteplay level with how often we had to pause and pick up later, but nothing that started out that way

 No.125780

>>125732

Sounds like a dreary experience, friend. I hope you find some fun.

 No.126986

It really depends. I much much prefer roleplaying where I have as much time as I want to make replies, usually varying between 1 and 2 days, but even 2 to 4 hours would be fine. I suppose I'm just looking for a different kind of roleplay.

Forums/e-mail I much prefer and it's hard to find people who are willing to write 2 or 3 paragraphs each time, I don't really know where to find them at all, actually. Almost everyone I have met wants to do quick chat RPs, and I simply don't like the fact that I can't express all the detail that I want.

I feel you, though. The times expected should be implied or agreed upon beforehand. Large amounts let me squeeze in little descriptions that make it so much more vivid, like sounds, emotions, thoughts, expressions, what's being said, what's happening meanwhile, etc.

 No.126991

>>126986

I like chat RP because there can be a lot of fine interaction. I'm happy to write longer replies when it fits, and happy to receive longer from my partner and have them take longer to write it, but when a back and forth conversation between characters is happening, I like the option for lots of short replies to make the conversation properly two-way, not just alternating. How can that be done when there's upward of a day between posts?

 No.129450

>six replies in a row are less than 5 words

>recognizes me on reroll later, asks why I disconnected

 No.129589

That's a bit better than just writing 3 paragraphs and then expecting them to keep the pace with no prior indicator, yeah?

Most of it is just gut feeling. I enjoy checking the 'info' page, it's a surprisingly good indicator of writing ability.

Measure enthusiasm in your planning, see if they bring any creative juices of their own. Do they have listed friends of quality, guestbook posts? There's no silver bullet, but there's lots of little signs to tell you if they're going to be a partner that puts their back into it - not necessarily good, still, but at least trying to be.

You can always get unlucky and catch them on a bad day. Sometimes you just get fucked.

 No.155520

>>125477

>>125480

Stupidity. Note RP is where people go when they want to take a day to post. F-Chat is where people go to take ten minutes to post. You're screaming at people who think "well okay, but maybe I want to take less then a day and more then ten minutes".

Short form RPs are time consuming. You have to spend every minute monitoring your computer screen for the reply. You can't do anything on the side. You can't even have other tabs open. It's boring as fuck. When you have thirty minutes to wait, you can take a shower. You can prepare a small dinner. You can return the overdue library book.

Read: para RP is for people who have lives and don't want to wait a day between posts. Short form RP is for Omegle-tier shitters who want to blow 3-4 hours staring at a computer screen waiting for a retard to shit out replies.
