I like RPing in public rooms but lately they been empty or silent. If a scene is unfolding and I'm interested I usually just do a "sit and watch" move with a character and if they invite me in I'll join but stay silent if not. Or if they do a move where it's a nod to anyone watching I'll chime in. I've found a lot of public RPers like the exhibitionism part and appreciate nonintrusive audience input. I tend to acknowledge watchers and if my partner invites them in I'm fine with it. It's good that people are watching and to know they like what you are typing. Granted, I play lolis and idle in rooms were the focus is on them, so it's different when chiming in than say you were some edge lord character.

The "sigh"ers are annoying but can be told to fuck off. Intruders and annoying people as well can be told to stop. Shit rpers are the worst. Still it's been months since I had a decent RP. Would really love to do public stuff again.

I've had a few good public sessions back when Literotica's chat was my main venue. I used to open fantasy-flavored sci-fi rooms and while I didn't usually get much attention it was great fun when I could lure a few players to my mystic forest.

Maybe I should start going back now that they have a reliable chat system again.

Pros:

• It's a private channel so nobody can bitch.

• Banning shitters is good for stress relief.

• Good roleplayers will spread it around.

• If people hate your guts, you can just remake the channel and moderate it with a different character.

• Anyone who tries to call you out on their profile or in their room can get punished for slander.

Cons:

• Shitters get angry and will evade channel bans(but can get a siteban for that).

• Friends can sometimes subconsciously circlejerk.

There is literally nothing in the rules saying you can't enforce a certain standard of writing (and I've been doing this in a 100-user channel that's received frequent visits from a global.) You just can't tell people to fuck off.

You can't harass people before banning them from your channel, but if you just kick them you're fine. If they approach one of the mods OOC, just have them instantly ignore them there too. There is nothing against this in the rules, and one of the mods seemed to actively encourage it at one point. They're private channels, you can do what you want.

and all time zones covered, most importantly. that's the hardest part.

Core idea is "you are entitled to watch, but not to touch".

I've been out of the actual RPing scene for a while but I'll lurk F-list advertising channels and read ads to my friends over discord, where we laugh at how bad some of the ads and profiles on display are. Shit's fun.

Well of course that's the thing.

So far idea is a typical sex bar setup with a queenslime girl in charge. That gives the initial burst of action by me - but limited by my euro TZ.

To that end, I would start by recruiting people beforehand to keep the ball rolling - the typical waitress roles as well as the initial burst of clientele.

Hopefully the rules aiming to keeping the shit approaches down will attract the players needed. And even if it fails in the long run, well we will all still have had a good go at it. And a potential repeat of the grandstand next week.

And this is why the industry has gone to shit - it's become about targeting people who think of video games as a last resort rather than the most ultimately fun thing in life.

Like others in the thread, I'll typically just lurk when I'm too tired or don't have the time for a lengthy ERP on my hands. I even use a blank, bland as fuck character account for the purpose of people watching, since I don't have to worry about PMs or anything then.

Sometimes I'll fap if I catch some people in an especially hot public scene, but usually I'm just lurking to bookmark interesting characters I see. It makes it much easier to find people to ERP with when I'm interested in some play.
