First, I've uploaded that whitelist script at the following URL:

I don't know a thing about code or scripts, but I'm sure some of you do and will want to take a look at this yourself to see if it's worth running for us. If there are no objections, I'll look into getting it running for us ASAP.

Second, between this and the fact that I will be out of town for about a week, I've decided to go ahead and appoint some Volunteers, for at least a temporary but probably permanent deal. A couple people I've talked to over email already, but if anyone else wants to throw their lot in, send me an email letting me know your availability/time zone, as well as a basic summary of your thoughts on how to approach moderation of the board.

Thanks for your time, and I hope to see this board restored to it's former glory soon.

Greetings /erp/ers I bring news from the front lines.

The wannabui spam seems like it might be done, unless that's just the case for chodemonkey's favorite boards /sudo/ and /leftypol/ as he has no interest in letting us know, good thing we aren't leftist retards who hang out in a hugbox. A quick look around shows it's been cleaned up in many boards like /pol/ or /v/ though not all as /baph/ still has leftover spam but doesn't appear to have any new spam.

I know you guys don't know to use our kemo chan but that may not be needed now. And if it is, you can just go back to trying to get kemothera.py to run again.

It's been spam free for a couple days actually, once /fur/ enabled the whitelist script it caused the spammer to go apeshit against the top popular boards in retaliation and left small ones alone.

Ashura has just recently appointed me as a volunteer. I've dealt with most of the reports people have sent in by deleting the obvious spamposts attached to them.

I'm not going to make a new thread to say hi, but I'm here.

EDIT:

It seems deleting posts by IP might end up deleting some legit posts, based on the hash/id. Cleanup will continue but it'll be slower.

The cleanup is going at a good pace, I believe. Already 20 or so threads are free from spam posts.

If there's any particular thread that you follow and we still haven't cleaned it up or we missed it after a couple of days, feel free to report it. It'd make things easier to keep track of.

Hopefully we can have the board running soon.

A lot of the threads that were rescued are old or hit autosage, anyway. People are better off making a new thread, at least for the popular recurring ones.

I would unlock some of them on request but I'd rather Ashura making that decision.

The rest of the board is cleaned of spam. Took only an hour or so. This is the first and probably last thread you will see me post with the capcode.

Message to mods: Don't be afraid of using d+ but don't be retarded about it. Spammer used VPNs, and very few users shared IPs.

Threads have been unlocked. Some older and irrelevant threads with more recent versions have been locked. Spammer can easily be dealt with.

USE THE CATALOG TO FIND ANY SURVIVING THREADS AND POST IN THOSE BEFORE MAKING A NEW THREAD

We disabled kemo for a day and got hit. But we are totally clean now. Maybe it would be good for you to build the whitelist even if it's not an emergency and you can put it into action when chodemonkeys solutions dont hold out. We'll continue to build ours.

There's just five threads worth of dead space at the top of the board, so much so that barely anyone stops scrolling by. I'd check these threads a lot more often if there weren't five of them.
