The alternative to a death penalty for homosexuality is getting SRS. It's more reasonable than in some Shariah countries (including allies of ours ;3), but it's not "gay" at that point. There've been cases where both partners have been executed. The "tops/bottoms" divide isn't in law, it's a vague cultural thing which seems to appear throughout the middle east, Mediterranean, and Hispanic world. It doesn't appear that tops get off "scot free" in Iran - and pre-marital sex is also illegal there.

Then that is literally the worst possible combination. Not only extreme prejudice against gay people. But also the western definition of sexuality where it's gay for the top and bottom.

Don't give those bastards an inch. Sure there are moderate Christians, but that's purely influenced by secular culture. Moderate Christians tend to view the bible in liberal (as in European liberal) terms where ever they can, and even in the supremely progressive country of Denmark you still find the hypocrites claiming to be spreading love and going above human nature while being complete farisees in their literal readings of the bible.
