Nah. My father was a military man for 7 years. South African military man at that and at the time they were taught how to kill in EVERY WAY. As a current military wannabe /cuteboy/, it's a pretty big hassle to be in a relationship with someone, doubly so if you're not married.
>Can never hang out on weekdays because of long work-hours unless they live super close to base.
>Hard for civilian BF's to understand what the military lifestyle is like which can be difficult because you're surrounded by people who get it 24/7.
>Even if you do have time off, there's always the chance that for some inexplicable reason they'll call you back because someone did something stupid.
>There's just so many levels of bullshit that has to be dealt with throughout the week that even when you jump past all the hurdles to get to the weekend, you're usually either so tired you're not in a super great mood or so fed-up with work all you wanna do is get absolutely fucking smashed at barracks parties.
>While deployments are pretty fucking rare for like 90% of units in the military, you still have to go to field problems semi-frequently (if you're not apart of a super pog unit) which can be a short two weeks to a long fucking month or two where cell service is spotty to not accessible at all.
>You can always date within the military to make it easier but that shit always felt weird to me personally. There are a fuckton of gay people in the military though and most people are cool with open homosexuals because most people only care about if you're a decent dude who does his job, and the people who still hate the gays can't be open about it or they'll get fucked sideways a million times over because of equal opportunity or sexual harassment policies.
Military guys aren't brainwashed or crazy though, some civilians I met are crazy stubborn about seeing that. Just like any demographic of people, there are retards/bad people, but for the most part some of the coolest dudes I've known have been in the military and there's something special about that magical brand of military stupid that is both confusing and awesome. Like shit, some of my BF's friends keep trying to convince me I'm a brainwashed, pr-conditioned killing machine that'd gun down a crowd of brown people at a moments notice and that shit's annoying as fuck.

I'm in the Navy, so tbh I probably wouldn't date anyone else in the service just because I don't want to end up bringing work home and we could be deployed at different times making it a permanent LDR.
And what you guys have said about weekdays and hard for civilians to understand military lifestyle is 100% true. I have civilian friends who don't understand how working 12+ hours a day doing some menial shit, standing watch and taking logs, studying for quals and other shit while trying to find time to eat, sleep and "me time" is difficult.
But I digress. I'd love to get into an LDR with a cuteboy while I'm in the Navy, I get to travel all over and I can homeport basically anywhere in the world. But moving around on the Government's dime and stuff like that only really works if you're married otherwise it's all out of pocket so if you are a cuteboy hoping to hook up with a sailor or other service member just to see the world you're gonna have to get hitched or hope he makes enough to keep moving you around every 2-4 years.
