Why are live-action superhero shows and movies so adverse to full-on costumes?

 No.999770

Money and practicality. Most productions can't afford to splurge on designing costumes that will either be worn for a few key scenes or replaced entirely by CGI.

These stars are expensive but also part of the reason why people see these movies so you gotta show their faces as much as possible.

Yeah, and that is why shows about characters with armors have everything except a decent helmet.

 No.999852

It's ridiculous they do that. Kids want the characters in costume. Not the actors under the mask. They don't care about them. Trying to sell the movie with the actors faces isn't doing them any favors. People go to see the cool superhero action.

 No.999858

I'm convinced it's less for the audiences and more for the actors egos. I genuinely wouldn't put it past someone like RDJ to have that big of an ego to request onscreen face time.

 No.999872

>>999858

I think I've heard something to this effect before, apparently a lot of actors don't take roles without a guarantee of some minimum amount of on-screen face time. Part of the reason I respect Karl Urban for Dredd so much.

 No.999874

>>999858

>actors egos

Pretty much. It is was absolutely ridiculous with Garfield's Spider-Man, where he spent almost as much time in costume with mask on and off. It is excusable in case of Black Panther and Stark, since they are both public figures, but it makes no sense for character like Spider-Man.

As much as I dislike Nolan's Batman, at least in his films Batman only takes off the mask in the bat cave or in Wayne manor.

>>999872

Most actors are extremely vain faggots. Deciding on which name is were on the movie poster, or the name order in the credits both take weeks or months of negotiations.

> Part of the reason I respect Karl Urban for Dredd so much.

Same with Reynolds. He might be an obnoxious faggot, but at least he spends most of Deadpool films wearing the mask. And when he isn't he is wearing cancer-face makeup instead.

Does Holland's Spiderman suffer from this too?

Should I watch any of the marvel movies post Winter Soldier?

 No.999918

>>999807

I don't mind the in helmet shot of Iron Man. It largely keeps him in full armor and still gives the actor screen time. It's a smart compromise.

However, stuff like Cap always taking off his mask, Spidey loosing or damaging his mask, even something like the refusal to have Thor keep his helmet all screams actor egos or dumb producers thinking people won't take it seriously enough.

 No.999920

>>999879

Not really. Two out of three times he takes mask without making sure it is safe to do so, he ends up busted. His mask is also off when Parker talks with Stark, but both times it happens is in secluded areas.

>Should I watch any of the marvel movies post Winter Soldier?

Absolutely not if you are going to spend money on them. They are all mediocre, and Homecoming is probably the best one of the bunch. Mainly thanks to Keaton as Vulture, who manages to make up for a lot of other bullshit it.

I'm guessing super hero helmets aren't comfortable to wear so they don't wear them unless they have to.

They don't use actual super hero outfits because they requires some real skill to pull off. If you make everything black leather than you can colour adjust the entire movie and nothing is lost. It's much harder to do that if people are in yellow spandex.

I'm pretty fucking disappointed in it so far, but hopefully it gets better. Gaim was absolute dog shit for the first 12 episodes then suddenly kicked into gear and stayed great until the very last episode which ended on a mediocre note. But yeah ZI-O is a little disappointing especially coming off Build. And KR wikia being fucking retarded doesn't help find information either. The biggest saving grace so far is bringing back multiple past Rider actors. But the show's quality itself is really poor.

I almost hope it's ending just pulls a Ryuki so none of it ever mattered in the first place.

>teens having horribly choreographed dance battles over "turf" and this being a major plot point

>summoning midgets from locks to have pokemon fights

>horrible, HORRIBLE CG monsters at the beginning

but like I said, then episode 12 hit and everything was incredible from then on. Of course, I guess the director had said from the get go the tone would shift drastically after a couple episode in early interviews so I imagine people dealt with those earlier episodes better than I did with that knowledge. Ex-Aid had a similar start and it definitely ended up as one of the better rider series so I'm more than willing to give Zi-O the benefit of the doubt.

I honestly wonder if they are just trying to get everything set up really quickly with these first couple of episodes to focus more on the crossovers and let those episodes breathe a little more than these early episodes where it's almost constant jump cuts and confusing, rushed story.

The thing is Ex-Aid didn't have to revisit past riders and try to justify the plot device of time travel like ZI-O does. Right now there's debate on exactly when the Build parts even take place. The current consensus I've found is that episode 2 takes place in the merged world while episode 1 showed Build in the early pre-merged world. But the show itself doesn't make this perfectly clear. Which is a problem tied to pacing issues I'm sure.

We already know Decade will make some kind of appearance later with the fact that one of ZI-O's upgrades is using the Decade ridewatch along with a third watch. For reasons. More than likely he'll show up unless the actor is that busy with Garo stuff.

Fourze is only an anniversary season in concept that got left behind since it was too close to Decade to do another anniversary season. But elements of this dropped concept are kept in the web specials sadly lost to the ages since there's zero torrents of them.

At least Zi-O has been getting better with each episode. There’s still some pacing issues but they really are capturing the feel and even some of the directing from each series. The latest episode even managed to have some intriguing stuff happen between the other rider shifting into Faiz and Woz easily overpowering other Fourze so Sougo could achieve his new form.

I am starting to think they didn’t get Sota Fukushi to reprise his role though. Kinda sucks how they’ll be handling the old riders if that’s the case, but it’s better than Decade just rewriting them completely.
