>Genndy Tartakovsky goes to Sony after Sym-Bionic Titan was canned, only to be regulated to working on a servicable-at-best CGI kids' franchise and have several pitches for movies turned down, while Samurai Jack's final season started out great but ended up fizzling out into an rushed, mostly underwhelming conclusion
>Wander over Yonder was cancelled, leaving a planned third season to never be completed and said show to be added to the ever-growing list of shows with cliffhangers that will probably never be resolved. Craig McCracken currently works on a pilot for Disney that may or may not be greenlit, all the while PPG is continuously bastardized while he is unable to do anything about it
>Lauren Faust leaves MLP after the first season, and goes to Sony, and has her idea for a film turned down similarily to Genndy's. She jumps ship back to CN and is currently working on a show that will more than likely end up being put in a shitty timeslot to make room for more TTG marathons

I never understood why Wander Over Yonder would be cancelled, but looking at the Nielsen Ratings the audience was abysmal even compared to other slumbers from the channel.
>inb4 Nielsen Ratings
I'm not saying they're accurate but they definitely show a trend.
The most logical explanation is that kids nowadays just have shit taste but I have no idea about the original time slots.
Or is it that Disney is that much of an asshole?

Was that before they were moved to Disney XD where cartoons go to die? Don't most channels do that to popular cartoons as a way to get more viewers to switch to another channel they own and it never works out. Just seems like the basic symptom of a channel not having an idea on how to market their own new shows to their audience. You can't keep a steady audience if you change the show's time-slot too much or don't release episodes consistently. This isn't pre-internet where we had to have some loyalty to a channel to even know when our favorite show is going to have new episodes released by catching a commercial on at the time.

Nickelodeon always did that with Nicktoons, they always moved cartoons to that channel to be forgotten and left to die, and now Nicktoons itself is a few steps away from getting dumped into a grave.

The fact that he stepped up to the plate of directing, rewriting and getting what appeared to be a movie stuck in development hell after 4 previous directors left, released in under a year and somehow became a successful franchise to get a sequel (and another on the way) and a animated series should be praised. It's annoying that Sony doesn't give him more respect for salvaging it.

There's also the stupidity of executives, like the story from Bryke about the one at Nick who wouldn't show episodes of Avatar: TLA in the proper order.
>Why don't the kids watch this, we done Avatar marathons on episodes based around Earthbending and other themed episodes, why don't they watch?

It's not Genndy's fault that he got fucked into 10 eps, but it is Genndy's fault that he chose to include the muse-waifu he made up as a 13-year-old in the fantasies that inspired Samurai Jack. Beyond not having the time to be trying to flesh out a brand new character when he could have been working with established ones, I can't believe he wasn't embarrassed even considering including his babby's first imaginary waifu in a public broadcast, especially when he then went on to write her as Jack's love interest like he was still 13 and pairing up his waifu with his self-insert. His shows have almost universal acclaim among the generation that watched them as kids, a generation that is now in their mid-twenties with a lot of money they're comfortable throwing around online. Its so fucking easy to get success on these platforms. Even shitty porn games made by nobodies that get updated once every 10000 years manage to rake in $400 a month.
