Rob Liefeld and Bum Tickley got noticeably better in the past few years. In all cases, I don't think they got better because something changed. Like Ellis didn't get better at art because he left buzzfeed. What happened was all of them were memes for years. Liefeld and Buckley were mocked incessantly for their shitty art habits and instead of collapsing into a lulcow blackhole, like Dobson did, they used that shame and humiliation as motivation to get better. Same thing happened to Ellis, only more quickly. The acceleration of content sharing on the internet made him go from nobody to laughingstock in a matter of weeks, and once the internet at large noticed what an egotistical faggot he was and how shitty his art was, he actually made an effort to turn his shit around.

Decent enough comic in OP, people like that though. Their art style isn't the problem, their writing and sense of humor are the problem.

Guy fucked up a loss by putting fucking dialogue in it. Someone had to edit it into a proper loss.

Is there a good chance that Ellis saw no need to improve his Buzzfeed comic art?

He made a art/character template, adjusted when necessary and it allowed him to make comics fast (low personal time cost) with minimal effort for deadlines while still getting paid. If upper management didn't complain about the design repetition, why bother to change when working for them?

Good to see he's moving forward though if the comic in OP's post is any indication.

Number two, you can make a parody to make something like it without blatantly tracing it. If he was making an homage, he should have made it in his style but look incredibly similar. That is not what he did. He literally traced the pages.
