Haha, I remember reading a novelization based on Chris Claremont X-Men comics as a kid. This was a novelization aimed at kids. It was about Genosha where the mutants were kidnapped or whatever and it actually mentioned the rubber suits they had to wear that replaced their skin and recycled their waste. I mentioned something about it to my mom and she was aghast that I was reading this stuff, she obviously recognized it was something a pervert came up with and I was too innocent to realize. Other things like that happened with me, like I read the Magik comic where the demon Belasco ages up Illyana from a little girl into a teenager with boobs and I showed my older brother, like, "Wow, this is weird" and he recognized that a freak was behind it, which I didn't really get at that age.

As far as I understand, Scott Pilgrim had a guest artist just to draw some sexy Ramona panels because everyone usually looked distorted. And you can actually see how she has actual proportions in some panels.

So what I'm trying to say is: A progressive, tumblr-ish comic is actually full of flat out sexism. HA! Eat this.

There was leftist PC pushing back then too, just like we have now. In comics, gaming (Computer Gaming World magazine was NOTORIOUS for this; let's not even get into Lieberman), and elsewhere. However, in general PC stuff was nowhere as obnoxious (let alone dangerous) as it is now, and I thought it was pretty bad back in the day.

In the 90s PC propaganda was mostly low key and overshadowed by actual content, but it worked in full force snowballing into the PC culture we have today. Movies and TV shows all had to have a gay person / oppressed kang in them, not portrayed in an obvious matter like how it is now, but instead in a "matter of fact" way. They wrote characters that everyone grew to love then slowly put them in situations were they can act like soapboxes, think "America Chavez punching Hitler" but much much subtler, like having a friendly meeting with a gay friend or listening to a black person say an offhand joke about slavery…etc.

Of course you can guess (((who))) is behind such content.
