Judging by how Season 3 ended with Rick looking pissed that his family's happy and mended, I thought there was going to be a sort of development where most of the shit caught up with Rick forcing him to go further and further passed the line, all the while trying to desperately to connect with Morty despite Morty slowly despising him. I thought the finale would've ended with the two fighting each other in a very tragic way.
