I watched the movie, I thought it was pretty good. I liked it a little bit better than Persepolis. Persepolis had a good first half, when she was living in a theocracy in the Middle East, but it got boring when it turned out the heroine grew up to be some dumb slut spreading her legs for Eurotrash hipsters.

The Breadwinner also had a "weaker" half in the side story Parvana would tell to others, but both in the film and inside the story, it served to alleviate from the hardships her family and friends were going though and the alternate animation style was nice.

The ending was pretty ambiguous, it ends with Parvana managing to get her dad back, but it ends right as the way between the USA and Taliban started, so even though it has a "happy" end, for all we know Parvana could have been blown up by a drone or an IED the very next day.
