The Stan Lee/Steve Ditko stuff is good, if a little early-sixties-weird in the same way old Archie comics are. The Stan Lee/John Romita Jr. run is really strong, so is the Peter David run, and the David Michelinie one.
After that it all just kind of fell apart.
The graphic novel Hooky, with Bernie Wrightson, was good. So was Kraven's Last Hunt.
Spider-Man 2099 was good until Peter David left.
Please ignore Trouble and One More Day. Avoid the fucking clones if you have to chew your own leg off to escape like a fox caught in a trap. Todd MacFarlane's adjectiveless Spider-Man looks gorgeous, but is written by a virtual illiterate. John Romita Jr. has an A game and a B game, and sometimes draws with his pen clutched in his asshole like in Sex And Zen.
