Go Get a Roomie is probably the worst one by /co/'s standards, as very few members of the cast qualify as being straigh… or monogamous. but it at least makes an attempt by having nice art, and making attempts at developing good characters.

I thought Between Failures was the least mentionable, but looking back, besides the lesbian couple that manages to be fairly adorable there's a Furry Club, and a few low-key BBW characters. Also you'd probably get angry at the black character for some reason. Otherwise it's QC-lite, which means better writing.

Yeah. Personally, I do like Reggie's Character Arc. He could have easily been the lazy Copy-paste of Reggie Mantle, and may have been one at some point, but he's grown up a bit. Nothing spectacular, mind you, but fairly interesting.

Honestly, no. Not because pronouns are actually reasonable, but because humans are fucking insane. Any AI that's critical enough to get to those questions would have noticed thousands of similar things long before and not be that naive about it.

Concepts and words never map cleanly to the real world. The map is not the territory. There are always edge cases, semantic tricks that use non-central examples, arguments about things that are actually arguments about definitions of categories, an endless stream of horrifying flaws in human communication.

What's funny is Tilly actually isn't innocent and has motivations of espionage. But Hanners doesn't know this, which is unusual given that in Jeph-land all the characters tend to have all the information, which makes for some exciting storytelling.

All this "empathy" and no thought to mom's point of view. She runs a technological empire, basically the Mega-Apple of the universe, and has a criminally underemployed daughter. From mom's point of view, leveraging the daughter isn't a big deal because she isn't doing anything meaningful anyway. While employed, Hanners is effectively a NEET and her mother is treating her as such. This is something near universal with parents. It's like sending your stoner gamer son out on errands because you don't really care about his frag count in Call of Duty. Yeah, it's a violation of your kid's sovereignty but your kid is being kinda worthless.

As for leveraging Tilly, who really cares? It greases the wheels and the NEET daughter's already easy life gets even easier. I mean it's hard to argue that a service isn't being done. Obviously someone involved in something like this isn't going to be an A+ talent anyway–and we already know this is the case. Tilly is the Hanners of another company.

I actually found it difficult to fully express my exasperation with these developments leading up to this veritable crescendo of an ending to the emotional roller coaster of the tale of Tilly's (very) brief employment.

The whole thing reads like it was penned by someone who can't remember what he did the previous day.

Maybe he even confuses himself so just decides to end it quickly before moving on to something else.

It would've worked just as well and got us to the mom confrontation much faster, plus Winslow presumably has a deeper emotional connection with Hanners than Tardy, who she's known for less than a week in universe.
