Much confusion comes from the fact that you don't know how long can an arc stretch.

Examples like Ed, Edd & Eddy have such a subtle long arc you could say is not even there, others like KND don't have a present arc until the third season.

Batman TAS was a Saturday cartoon which means its arcs are spastic as fuck, and the real DCAU arc didn't start until the last season of Superman TAS.

In more recent cartoons, Gravity Falls arc is sporadic for the most part but constantly present in the background, Star vs follows a similar format KND did at the beginning, and Wonder Over Yonder follows the Ed, Edd and Eddy format, with a near non-existent plot arc but doubling down on the character one.
