Being an artist usually means you are your own worst critic, and the cliche is that you'll always hate your work even if everyone else loves it.. but I think the catch here is that they get praised for their ideas, more than their work. They can still hate their own art, but people sucking their e-peen because they promoted some tumblr-tier bullshit ideas still causes them to gravitate towards that audience. Yeah it was good for the first while, when the comic was decent and trying to break new ground, like the "THAT BLACK ENERGY?! THATS fairly common" was chuckle worthy, but then it gets old after every panel on every page has to have some forced joke into it when its not really needed. I think this is an unfortunate side-affect of the weekly webcomic format. Rather than being released in chapters all at once, the artist feels they have to deliver humor consistently for each update. Rather than having lulls in the comedy every few pages, the week before the update serves as the lull. The comic can't really be anything other than what it is because that's what the readers expect.
