You know an artist who doesn't get enough Flak? Ben Templesmith. Terrible fucking art and always gets hired for video game lore comics

Look at this fucking shit, Its the Silent Hill comic series, I story-timed it once and people were actually begging me to stop. I mean I've seen good stuff he's done but the majority of art he does for game adaptions in particular is abhorrent

Going off the pages you posted, I can't say his style isn't appropriate for the material. Can you actually articulate how his art bugs you? Because I don't think this thread will go farther than Land and Dedato Jr.

I have mixed feelings about Ashley Wood. Like his Metal Gear Solid comic. Its really solid in some places but a lot of the time it just looks like he threw ink and paint onto a page.

Wood's always had that problem. When he wants to, he can make gorgeous art, but most of the time he prefers to half-ass it.

I've always wondered how he first got into comics? Was he connected? Did he know someone who opened the door for him?

On a side note, I honestly don't know how to feel about Jim Mahfood's art. One day I like hi, the other day I don't. Its weird.

I think the worst part about these is the clashing speech bubbles. They look like they were tackled on as an afterthought, where even something as simple as actually fucking drawing them and doing the lettering by hand would improve the coherence of the pages tenfold.

Believe it or not I used to sell pot to Templesmith when he was in high school.

He was a really funny guy but I have to agree with the OP about his art, it only works for the right stories,Wormwood is all that springs to mind.

These looks like a bunch of really rough, inconsistent, off-model, unfinished sketches that he shaded way too much and then hit with a yellowish brown filter to make them look stylistic.
