What's extra dumb is he could've saved them both quickly in a flash without anyone even really seeing him. Especially when he's hopped up on adrenaline. Not like it'd be out of his character to be impulsive either. He fucking tore a truck apart because the driver poured beer on him.

The writing for this Superman is so inconsistent.

Yes, I know how stupid it is that people keep blaming Batman for Joker's murders when literally anyone can kill the Joker.

Cavill was the least shit thing about the movie. He was perfectly fit for the role. Just happened to sadly get stuck with a director who doesn't understand a damn thing about the stuff he adapts.

YES

The first movie was such a boring pile of shit. And it had enough lens flares and flashing lights to kill an epileptic from 50 feet away.

And nothing of value was lost. The sooner capeshit dies the sooner the movietheaters do and 'wider mainstream appeal' with it.

Only then can /tv/ retired to its braphog holdings and we can talk about cinema again rather than KHNO

Marvel popularizing superhero films on a massive level is what led to Man of Steel. Not constant reboots.

And a batman one and they were all self contained or were continuations from the damn 70's. Most of the sequels of the previously established films were pretty shit.

Anon it doesnt take a genius to figure out to set up an inter connected cinematic universe, its better to start from square one where all the rules can be laid out than try to jerryrig independent films into one narrative. Plus people were ready for a new fresh start for Superman too bad what we got was utter shit.

>Marvel popularizing superhero films on a massive level is what led to Man of Steel. Not constant reboots.

It was quite literally constant reboots that led to Man of Steel, namely the success of the Nolanbat reboot and the failure of the Superman Returns semi-reboot. They had tried "smiling colorful Superman who saves people, directed by a proven Marvel guy" and EVERYONE rightfully hated it because it sucked. And who knows why you tards think there's anything good about MoS 2 getting canceled, it's not like HACK $NYDER was going to piss in your cereal again, all it really means is that Cavill's probably never coming back to the role. Enjoy your 87 billion reimagining-pre-reboot-quels featuring characters from the criminally under-utilized "Bat-family".

People didn't hate Superman Returns because it was campy. It just wasn't a good movie.

Man of Steel exists one as a rights holder & two as a way to ape the success of Marvel's MCU.

I'm fatigued by Batman stuff too but hey he's DC's most likable character. Nothing can be done about them milking him forever. The positive thing is having a, potential, clean slate to work with instead of trying to salvage the pieces of an already long shattered project.

>People didn't hate Superman Returns because it was campy. It just wasn't a good movie.

That's true, but it's easy to grasp the execs logic: Superman Returns bombed, Green Lantern bombed, better do something different. On paper they did everything "right" with Superman Returns and it just didn't turn out well.

>Man of Steel exists one as a rights holder & two as a way to ape the success of Marvel's MCU.

that is exactly the problem, Superman isn't Batman. What works for one cape does not necessarily work for another.

In the case of Superman and Batman, what works for one is essentially the exact opposite of what works for the other. That's their whole dynamic, they are opposite to eachother in basically every way except for their obsession with justice. Superman is the avatar of hope, Batman is the avatar of fear. Nolan understood Batman, Snyder unfortunately did not understand Superman and just wanted to emulate Nolan's success with the Dark Knight movies. I wonder what would have happened if Nolan had both hands on the reins of MoS instead of Snyder. The dialogue would have been worse.

See, I understand what you mean by

>Batman is the avatar of fear.

because he uses intimidation as a means of fighting crime, both on a tactical and strategic level.

But what the fuck does hope mean? I mean, it's everywhere, all these cunts are talking about the virtues of "hope", but it's always in the vaguest sense. What's it actually gonna be good for, specifically?

Hope and fear are the two main forms of motivation, the carrot and the stick. If you steal a car, Batman will punish you by breaking your fucking teeth, Superman will give you a gay little speech about how you can do better if you try. Superman is the best of us because he uses his unimaginable, godlike powers to help good people. Batman is less good because he uses his comparatively inferior powers to beat up criminals.

That's more or less the only way either of them can ever function as characters. If Superman ever gave up on being a boyscout, he'd just end up killing everyone and if Batman ever gave up on being a monster, he'd be ineffectual.
