Finally found this after I couldn't recall its name, then I find out it had Betty White, and Tim Curry in the voice cast Upon rewatching. Wiggy

 No.1039665

I remember watching one Christmas cartoon that was basically Santa's origin. He had to fight some rock monster or something.

Was that the one where he was raised by fairies or the one where he was raised by elves?

>Was that the one where he was raised by fairies or the one where he was raised by elves?

Wasn't he about to get claimed by the Grim Reaper (who was a spectral woman or something) before the gods bless him with immortality in the Nick of time?

What was the name of the stop motion Christmas move about Santa made be the same guys that animated Rudolph.

 No.1039789

Yeah, they decide he's a cool enough guy that he deserves to live forever. It's pretty good.

>doesn't know everything about Rankin/Bass, from Mad Monster Party to Silverhawks

Fucking pleb.

BTW, the special you're looking for is either Santa Claus is Comin' to Town or The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus

>The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus

That's the one, i wasn't sure about it because i recalled there being a 2d adaptation as well.

There was, they used to show it on CN back in the day. It has the same plot aside from some minor differences.

Those differences were not being nearly as epic as the Rankin/Bass version.

You'd think you'd get a bit of the uncanny valley with it but for some reason I've never seen that happen with stop motion.

 No.1039858

>>1039715

I think he was raised by fairies in that one and developed a penchant for making toys from them.

>>1039816

I remember that one. That one always stood out to me.

>>1039828

My theory is that the models fro stop motion are stylized to begin with so it doesn't look weird. With uncanney valley it looks close to real but not quite. It seems more apparent in CG animation.

 No.1039979

Some christmas special that was sorta like toy story except even darker.

like literally dark, the whole thing took place at night and it was snowing and toys were lost I think. can't remember very well. It may have been CGI or stop motion

The computer animation hasn't aged well. But at least it looks better than Beast Wars

OH MY GOD we need to talk about Twas the Night Before Christmas here.

Albert, the mouse that writes the public letter to Santa calling him a fraud, is a goddamn conspiracy theorist. He lives in a world where you can call up the North Pole and reach someone that works for Santa Claus. There's a preponderance of evidence for Santa's existence, but Albert refuses to believe it and puts an entire town's Christmas at risk.

Since Santa knows who's been bad or good, I assume that he knows that Albert wrote the letter. So Santa Claus tells an entire town to fuck off just to show Albert who exactly he's fucking with. Just having their mail returned causes an entire town to fall into despair, civic institutions are forced to spend millions to regain favor, families fall into poverty, and father's turn against their sons. Lives are ruined because Santa needed to flex on some rodent Alex Jones.

Twas the Night Before Christmas is possibly the darkest Christmas special ever produced.

Anyone remember the name of this?

There was a greedy boy named Jeremy Creek who wanted everything. When he stopped getting what he wanted he wrote a list about a mile long for Santa. By mistake his list went to the town of Jeremy Creek. He helps Santa in the following years until he can't fit in the sleigh anymore.

Stop motion very rarely goes for true realism, too. I think if it did, it might end up being more uncanny valley-ish.

Nilus the Sandman had a Christmas special. Fuckin' Long John Baldry made everything better.

Except maybe the part where a robot clown whose mannerisms and appearance are in no way based on the Genie from Aladdin breaks into a rap number because it was the early 90s.
