>Is it any good?
It is a pretty good mix of adventure with horror. Horror has Lovercrafitan elements, but is avoids cliches like evil cults and tentacled eldritch monstrosities. Most of the 'horror' comes from the kids being outmatched by the antagonist and from general atmosphere.
>Does the plot go to shit?
No. It stays consistent throughout the series. Each volume is about as good as the previous one. Last one is probably the weakest, but it does not ruin the story.
>Does the writer insert some unnecessary political shit into the story?
Not really, although there is some stuff that might bother more hardcore /pol/lacks. Spoilers to follow.
<two gay couples
<one mixed race couple in a flashback
<white high school girl kissing a black guy and then briefly dating him
<elderly mentally disabled black woman is nearly stabbed by a mentally disabled white racist
And that would be it. However, if you are looking for political subtexts, there is as much if not more that counters it:
<Gay couple is assaulted by a lesbian couple
<Mixed race couple does not end up well
<Antagonist is a gender switching demonic entity
<Antagonist uses the whole 'evil seductress' angle that a decent portion of feminists hates
<Single mothers in the comic are absolute miserable messes
<Male side character wears a gown to a prom as a joke
<Main protagonist is a guy who likes fishing, is a good student, attempts to fill up void left by his murdered father, is a voice of reason throughout the book, and manages to seduce a girl
I might not be entirely correct on some of the bothersome stuff, since they are fairly inconsequential to the grand story and most of them are done within a page or two.
