Barring the fact Jason is an incredibly poorly written in every story outside of his original Under the Red Hood appearance, there's always been something that's annoyed me. His hair. In his "first" resurrection appearance in the Hush storyline, Jason is shown to have a white streak in his hair similar to that of Ra's Al Ghul's. The kicker is that this both is and isn't Jason. It's Jason and Clayface working in tandem to fuck with Batman. The white streak then was just part of his disguise.
>Red Hood Lost Days
Later we get a prequel story set before the events of Under the Red Hood and a tie in with the Hush appearance. Further showing that even after the Lazarus resurrection, Jason did not have a white streak.
>Batman & Robin
After the Battle of the Cowl, Jason doesn't show up for a while. Not until resurfacing as Red Hood in a new costume. This time his face looks a lot more like Rorschach while his hair color is retconned. This time his hair has always been red but Batman made him dye it to look more like Dick. Then we get a further retcon where Jason claims the white streak is really there and a result of his Lazarus resurrection. Only much later near the run of the series do we meet Jason once more. This time much more buff and handsome. But with absolutely no white streak.
>New 52 and Rebirth
New 52 as confusing of a reboot as it may be gives lot more clear origins to Jason. This time the streak is completely gone and never mentioned. Never even retconned in.
So why make this post? Because I'm annoyed that the white streak has somehow become a staple of any artwork you can find for Jason Todd. It's always him with the white streak. Especially when they draw him based on his New 52 look. I don't understand how those kinds of artists can be so braindead. Or maybe they genuinely have never picked up a single comic featuring the character in their life and just wanna draw what'll get views.
