 No.1024589

Season premiere is titled Dead Kids and will focus on the topic of school shootings. Starts on the 26th.

 No.1024595

I LOVE South Park!

 No.1024599

They really need to stop milking this show for all its worth.

 No.1024602

It's not as dead as Simpsons because it at least tries to be funny, but to me, the Trump/ Troll/ Mars season was the nail to the coffin.

 No.1024606

>>1024602

The nail to the final coffin was this caroon getting dragged out for so long, no show can go this long without suffering a severe decrease in quality.

 No.1024661

You could make a good episode about how desensitised people are getting to school shootings, and other such attacks. Hopefully it's not just whining about guns.

 No.1024742

it won't just be whining about guns

it'll be whining about trump and republicans too

 No.1024746

>>1024589

If this were the South Park of 10 years ago, I'd expect a fair and honest approach to the topic, how 'Gun-free Zones' are safe space nonsense, how schools are fucking up kids for life as early as possible, how the media's coverage and distortion of shootings only makes things worse, and how pissy walkouts and protests do nothing and only encourage stricter, more ridiculous school policies that do not solve the problem.

Instead, it seems like the message will be that America is so burnt out because there's just SO MANY shootings, that it's not even surprising and everyone is just numb to tragedy.

 No.1024771

>>1024602

I think a major problem is they are trying to hard to be hip or trendy with current events that the know shit about.

Older episodes mentioned current events of that , but the messages or themes of those episodes could be applied even outside of knowing who those characters are or what events happened.

which is exactly what happened

i'm surprised they DIDN'T whine about Trump and Republicans and gun control here

last major school shooting was 7 months ago so there's no humor or clever commentary in this exaggeration at all

nobody fucking considers how much shit goes on in chicago these days

Randy pantomiming right next to Sharon was funny at first but they ruined it by having it happen outside the window which is less impactful conceptually and thus much less funny

had to skip the Cartman B-plot about black panther and Randy's musical number

I'd even say there's just like 4 or 5 episodes total I could rewatch.

Including timeless parody ones (Black Friday, WoW) or the ones where Stan gets cynical, because it got released right when my parents lived seperately.

I hate Mr Garrison, Timmy, that other retarded kid, Tweek… too many episodes are about those guys.

Incidentally their intended plan was to have Hillary enslave the male populace of America while they didn't quite have a Trump storyline. That's why they ended up scrambling for it after his surprise victory

When they did it for Obama and McCain they didn't have any plans beyond the heist because they didn't see a potential far sweeping grab at power like Hillary might have done

Add, I liked it when it was about the kids. Whatever perspective they would bring to the problem at hand, it wouldn't be poz. It would seem authentic to their world. Except maybe Cartman, but he would always be the one cynically exploiting the poz for fun and profit. A world is fucked up when kids are wiser than spine-crushed adults. It doesn't have that anymore.

 No.1033743

The vaping episode is very hypocritical after they made an episode shitting on people shitting on smokers. The Halloween episode was good but I have a feeling that it is the same oldman mentality thing. Both are apolitical which is big plus but only the Halloween episode was actually good because the kids acted liked kids. The only good episode of the previous season was good because the kids only gave a shit about Columbus day because it was day off school.

Maybe we should talk about the South Park games. They are essentially long episodes. How does "The Stick of Truth" fair against "The Fractured But Whole"? From the looks of things, Fractured But Whole has more content and managed not be as censored but it has a lot of nuSouth Park cancer.

More naive fans will think that it actually satirizing the Left but satire is more than making fun someone's mannerisms. Looking at the Trayvon Martin episode, can people really say that they don't actually believe the "White is easy mode" bullshit?

>>1036014

Fuck off /v/fag. Stick of Truth is better in terms of story and humor while still being fun to play.

 No.1036032

I stopped giving a shit about this overglorified series after the post-movie seasons. After that it was one stupid topical issue after another. Only ones I enjoyed from those seasons were the WoW, Russel Crow and Wii episodes and all episodes involving the retarded mafia kids and Canadians (except for the last one). Everything else was just bland or straight up bad, but not unwatchable. The season about SJWism was the nail in the coffin. Most people jerked off to it because "lol they're making fun of X and I hate X", but really, take off the circlejerk glasses and it was one of the worst (if not the worst) seasons in the series and in the end it wasn't even really critical of SJWs and the whole damn thing ends with South Park becoming diversified, Kyle going back to being a moral soapbox by next season and Craig and Tweek being in a relationship which only made SJWs love the show and see the mockery aimed towards them as lighthearted since the season ends with PC principal giving a speech about how we're all united against non-existent aliens. Also the bathroom episode was just awkward and needlessly preachy, but then again, the whole damn series has been obnoxiously preachy for years ever since Chef left.

 No.1036034

>>1036032

I'd hate to sound like a broken record, but… THIS. South Park is no different than zombie Simpsons, the main difference being its somehow even more preachy than Simpsons. Hell, Lisa has her moments of obnoxious speeches but they never last more than 13 seconds. Kyle can go on and on for 2 fucking minutes trying to impose morals upon an audience that doesn't want to watch a show to be lectured.

Wish I knew. I've watched all the eps this season and I haven't laughed once.

 No.1036268

I didn't watch the whole thing because it was too cringeworthy but that one episode where they acknowledge the Yaoi fan art of the show has to be one of the most retarded things they have ever done. I literally stopped watching after that and I was already skipping episodes.

When would you guys say that this show jumped the shark?

 No.1036296

>>1036268

During the Butters seasons. But all in all the show hasn't been the same since they were forced to get rid of Chef who was basically the "voice of reason" among the cast. When they got rid of him, they started molding Kyle into the new voice of reason but made him more obnoxious and unrealistically mature with his soapboxing bullshit which was just a way for the writers to talk down to their audience. But even after the Butters episodes when they started doing more topical shit, the show still had some giggles or at times it was just harmlessly mediocre. But then season 17 came along and it was all irredeemable awful from then on. The yaoi episode along with the whole SJW season was just cum icing on the turd cake and served as the point of no return. The only reason people pardoned it was because of the shitty PC Principal character being a "mockery" of SJWs even though it was still a shit season and a shit character, but because GG-like fags were so big at the time they had a stiff boner for that kind of shit, even though that season was just a thinly veiled way of making South Park more tumblrized. I don't even like using tumblr as the end all term for forced progressiveness anymore since clear Twitter has dethroned them in that regard

>The only reason people pardoned it was because of the shitty PC Principal character being a "mockery" of SJWs even though it was still a shit season and a shit character,

Like I said with the Trayvon Martin episode, they do genuinely believe all of this gay shit. It is annoying and stupid surface level criticism of SJWs. The thing is SJWs are not only wrong in their methods but their ideas as well. However, South Park is only willing to tackle their methods but it approves their ideas. The episode where Trump won showed Trey's and Matt's butthurt leaking out of the screen. The first few minutes were beautiful in the way that it proved all of those faggots wrong. It proved Trey and Matt wrong. It proved retards that still like the show wrong.

>>1038517

Yeah, just like tourettes and scientology. Making fun of people because of their disability is offensive and they shouldn't be allowed.

 No.1038596

The problem with Matt/Trey is that by doing South Park so long with no real breaks in between, they've basically put the show into an unwinnable position as far as quality is concerned. The comparisons to Simpsons ITT are very apt, because there's a common pattern connecting them.

To make genuinely funny stories, people usually have to draw from their own experiences in some way. If you are a highly active and risk-taking person in real life, then you will have a mountain of these experiences to exploit. Eventually, this well will run dry, because the life of a wealthy showrunner is unrelatable at best and disgustingly hedonistic at worst. This inevitably leaves the writers with only their own imaginations to work with. Unfortunately, writers like that haven't been leaning on their imagination up to this point, so why would they be good at it now? That's why they have to look for a quick and dirty substitute for experience, and that substitute is other media. Now the series starts distilling into repackaging of other interesting subjects, whether it is yesterday's headlines or emotional moments in more original art pieces.

It must be really soul-sucking to be one of these kinds of artists. To get to the point where you've truly exhausted your original ideas requires that you have spent many years on the series. And since you spent so long on it, it has basically become your identity. You can't simply let the series end, because after nearly a decade of producing it, it's all you think about. At the same time, it's impossible to be unaware that continuing it will kill it anyway. So you've taken something you loved, and slowly watched yourself rip it to shreds.

 No.1038604

>>1038596

I mean all the way back in that Super School News episode all those seasons ago, they even used the characters to tell the audience "man I hate having to come up with new ideas all the time, it sucks".

 No.1038617

I always wondered how far up their own asses Trey and Matt are, I remember reading here some blog or podcast that someone linked where people who worked on Drawn Together claimed that the show got cancelled because i believe it was Trey that claimed it was copying South Park or clinging to its fame, something egocentric like that.

 No.1038627

>>1038596

I think you're right on a lot of points, but I wouldn't chalk it up to them becoming tired, at least not entirely. The problem isn't just that they've become enclosed in their work, denying them the ability to add new experiences to their writing. Instead, I'd say it's because they've done the same thing every kool-aid spewing comedian and late night host has done. They are enclosed in a social circle of hollywood faggots and self-righteous cunts, inundated with the kind of sanctimonious groupthink that makes retarded cunts who pretend to be other people for a living think they are the genius ruling class ubermensch deserving of ruling over the plebs and decreeing how society should be structured.

They're likely on social media constantly, behind about a dozen blockbot lists, only stepping out of a very carefully curated bubble to wave around their celebrity e-peen at random people because they think being famous and telling someone on twitter "LOL UR DUMB" is like dropping a wit-powered nuclear bomb on someone. They've been invited up to the ivory tower and locked themselves off. They seem to genuinely believe that they've still got that edgy magic that lets them see through to the truth, but in reality, they've just become high off the smell of their own pretentious farts.

They are sheltered liberal elites. However, the main problem is their world view is based on what they see in the MSM after they run it pass their outdated bullshit detector. That is why the few non-political episodes are about trends that they don't like vaping, scooters, vampires, or Pokemon. The political episodes are from a rich liberal elite's perspective like "Mexicans only do jobs that you don't want to do." or "The police are racist.".
