What are the best comics and movies of superheroes for someone who wants to avoid and be totally out of everything star wars Marvel, Fox and Disney?

 No.1017911

Just buy second-hand physical media copies. You still "have" the movies but they didn't get a cent out of you.

Try DC.

 No.1017963

Nothing that is made by them, obviously.

If you want comic capes, DC is an obvious choice, and should be your choice if you want capes that are not completely shit. Valiant has some decent cape comics, and Dark Horse occasionally publishes a mini of their older cape titles - Black Beetle was probably the last one to get his own brand new miniseries. Lobster Johnson might also satisfy the cape hunger, since it is a mixture of pulp, golden age comics, and some horror.

Astro city is a good read if you want something that's a love letter to super hero stuff. Dark Horse used to do the licensed comics for Star Wars and Predator and both were good if you like those.

The older Shadow comics are good like The Shadow: Hitler's Astrologer.

I didn't want to list series.

Fine, Spider-Man one and two, Batman Returns, Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rises. HAPPY?

I'd include Grendel in the list of comics, it's cape, but more of a study of a great villain.

V For Vendetta is semi-cape, more dystopian with a cape anti-hero. I think V has more in common with Fantômas and Diabolik, and the pulp heroes.

There are also action movies that are inspired by comics. Would be called capeshit if made in the west. And that's before getting into the tokusatsu genre.

>>1017907

Best superhero is still One-Punch Man.

>tokusatsu

>tfw the only way to watch capeshit that isn't pozzed is to watch Jap shows made for preschoolers.

They have some cute girls though so that's another plus.

Seconding AC. I think it's a rare kind of comic that despite being about capes, it still appeals to non-cape readers. The approach to storytelling is based more on drama and some slice of life rather than action…

Avoid volume 3 though (2013—?), it's pozzed hard. There was a nice >>>/storytime/ thread for AC but if I remember correctly it stopped somewhere during the Dark Age arc.
