The art has been shown in the OP, is not grinning potatoes but is as close as animu gets, expect lame character designs at 12FPS because muh animu style.

Its too early to tell if this really will be trash and I really don't want to be the one to jump to conclusions. But my takeaway from that webm is that these people are everything wrong with modern animation. They focus too much on character design and not enough on creating convincing movement. I shouldn't care but one of their talking points was "We get to hand draw everything yay!" ignoring the fact its still digital ink and paper, every modern American animated series is what I call "Talking head cartoons" because the majority of the time only the mouths of the subjects move. Its quintessentially Calarts level of animation. Their talking points are "Fanny warm adventurous!" But why not simply make a comic series if you just want nice artwork with a campy story and setting and leave animation to a setting where the characters can actually be animated? Honestly feels like the advantages of even telling stories in an animated format is being forgotten.
The medium of animation can result in the ability to create (mostly) seamless settings, characters, creatures, props and being set on different worlds without having to worry about the restrictions of what a live action series would have of things like special effects, physical prop design, travel costs, actor casting/scheduling, set usage time restrictions, etc while still being able to have benefits of live action for things like great soundtracks.
A series like Starcom: The US Space Force would never have been the same in live action with scenes like the good guys using low gravity to lift and throw a small space ship into a volcano on Jupiter's moon Io to make it erupt and defeat the bad guys, or something like Dino-Riders having a bunch of humans riding dinos equipped with laser cannons while fighting aliens also on laser equipped dinos. A comedic series like Rocko's Modern Life wouldn't be the same if the cast were humans instead of bipedal cartoon animals and the bizarre situations they got into.
M. Night Shyamalan's terrible live action version The Last Airbender is basically the perfect example of how an animated series should just stay in the format it came out in and the terrible (live action) issues that resulted in trying to adapt it with the budget being eaten up by:

What really sucks is the sad case of the Occam's Razor. For the most part kids simply don't give a fuck about good storytelling or anything more than flashing lights with simple fart jokes. I was watching Netflix, found Avatar: The Last Airbender in 2013, decided to watch it for nostalgia's sake and found out it was better than I remembered, I watched it all as a kid but I just didn't cared, I just liked the fights and even then I didn't appreciated the animation work.
Same has happened with the things I've tried to show the kids in my family. Tron: Uprising, Treasure Planet, Some Ghibli stuff, Avatar, As Told by Ginger, Gargoyles, Spectacular Spiderman, is all the same, half an episode in is deemed boring and they skip it even if I apply the "is too cool for you kiddo" tactic.
And all those kids who never looked back are turned into adults who expect and even want nothing from animation. Except probably Looney Tunes and that's because they're just funny and no adult who likes Looney Tunes because is just funny cares about the craft of animation.
So that's what everyone's doing, they're just ripping off of Looney Tunes and badly so because all the companies who economically support animation studios are always teasing just how little they have to try before kids even notice and the answer is really little and since the income of new kids never ends then there's really no reason to try support the art of animation because the business of animation is never in danger.
As for the kids who are autistic enough who end up liking animation as adults, there's of two extremes in the same spectrum, those who just love animation as art and those who loved animation as escapism. We are the first always pushing harder, breaking and rebuilding our self-steem in >>>/loomis/, crying and being called a shit but because we love each other and we want everyone to become better but always staying there for each other even if is to insult our flaws because they need to be insulted, then when we are good enough to do whatever we want we do it and express ourselves.
On the other side you have those who are willing to draw just stick figures as long as you let them "express themselves", they don't want to be good, they want to be heard and there's no difference between posting on Twitter non-stop and making a tv episode as long as there's a million people there hearing them. And since their skill is a parallel of their expression, at best it means that telling them they need improvement is an insult to their expression, at worst trying to improve is an insult to the expression of the clique they belong into and they get unpersoned, thus they are not heard anymore. And of course being desperate as they are companies are willing to hire them as cheap work force.

It's why animation has slowly re-geared itself to teens and twenty-somethings recently if they have any intent of actually finding an audience that appreciates story. Granted, right now it's all gearing towards the wrong kind of twenty-something, the feminist crowd, but if animation as a storytelling medium genuinely wants to survive it needs to shoot for a higher age bracket.
