so let's recap this fat asshole's career:

> 1999 - starts the garfield of webcomics

> becomes "best friends" with kris straub (guy who made candle cove)

> 2010s - moves to Seattle to go work with the Penny Arcade guys. does a comic with them and plays in their celebrity D&D games at conventions

> Today: Straub wants nothing to with him, left PA under mysterious circumstances, currently almost forgotten but is still making his Garfield comic even though nobody cares. constantly chasing approval from young anti-GG kinda people but I don't think it worked

I know he's basically nobody at this point… but what happened? What did he do to make the PA guys and his "best friend" stop working with him? I bet the answer is funny, whatever it is

 No.1006662

It's been a while but all I remember about the guy was that he was a prick who would get buddy buddy up to you and say you're his hero up until he would sell you down a river to virtue signal, which is what he did with frank cho.

Had no idea that Bald and Piglike had ditched him. My guess is that he pissed off someone inside of PAX, or maybe he came on a little too strong to some volunteer, and they threatened to screech that he's a rapist, so they just quietly booted him. When piglike was made to kowtow and grovel to trannies for daring to say that women have vaginas, it was a controversy largely pushed from the inside of the PAX Enforcer clique. It was some psychotic cunts threatening to make everyone quit if Piglike didn't capitulate. Even though they didn't actually have the support of the entire Enforcer workforce, the threat of bad PR was enough to get Piglike to donate 10k to some tranny charity. Wouldn't surprise me if this giant fat goony fuck did something similar.

His comic is literally one of the first "heh, uh gamers huh?" webcomics that started just at the right time to ride the webcomic boom of the early 00s, and he did so with a lazy, newspaper comics style, where every frame was made up of template poses and compositions, and every punchline was stale and inoffensive as possible. The only reason he's not a meme like Bum Tickley is, was because he never did an miscarriage storyline.

Also, his improvement as an artist amounts to adding color to his comics and adding maybe a few extra wiggly lines to imply some kind of texture or physical detail.

I was never a PVP reader, only reading stuff that gets posted in LOL webcomic threads, but the guy's art has gotten noticeably worse. Just compare the blonde pony-tail guy to how he looks in that black and white strip from 2004 to how he looks here. It's like they sucked all the character from his design. Also, good to see it went down the same path as Penny Arcade and turned from "Heh, us gamers, huh?" into "Heh, us nerd parents, huh?"

the weird thing is that as far as I can tell he doesn't have kids, making this stuff a really transparent gambit for relevance

I don't know if him leaving PA was because of internal drama as his character Binwin has been brought into one of the D&D games. He was working on his own sort of game called Binwin's minions which is a game where you were suppose to try to keep your death prone minions alive but I haven't heard anything about it for a while.

He right now does that 'garfield of webcomics', table titans, and binwin's minions as comics. Nothing too exciting,

Same thing happened with Atomic Robo's artist. The art is so bad now. It looked like a not so dark Mignola style originally and now it became these people as blobs.

I learned how to ink digitally from Scott Kurtz how-to videos that don't seem to be online anymore.

Used to like him, listened to the podcast he did with other webcomics guys. The Frank Cho stuff and his worsening art turned me off and I moved on.

Possibly the most interesting thing he's ever been involved with is an extra on the PVP cartoon DVD (remember that?) that just shows a guy recording lines in a voiceover booth. I know that doesn't sound like much, but if you seek it out, it's one of the most bizarre/fascinating things you'll ever watch, trust me.

Straub is a huge SJW in comparison, so I don't know. I used to think he was cool but he got caught up in his fans.

 No.1006898

Never liked how he threw Frank Cho under the bus when Cho defended Milo Monara with his troll art.

It's baffling how nearly-identical in style, palette, and composition his work is with Piglike of Penny Arcade. It's like they became some kind of incestuous talentless artist hivemind.

Jeeze, it's literally become Garfield.

>>1006899

Even the writing has become identical. Personally, I think there's a pool of young artists that both PA and PVP pull from to ghost draw their strips.

If you have a high tolerance for cringe, you might make it through part of the video. It is pretty much proof that at least for PA, there is really no need for them to hire ghost artists or writers, because the quality, and volume of work doesn't need it. They can bullshit in front of an audience, and still get the bare minimum done. (And if you want, research your favorite artists, see if they have a youtube channel with some draw streams, and look at the quality of work they can get done in the same amount of time). Looking at the "detail" on that abomination that Kurtz has put out throughout this thread, I doubt he needs a ghost artist either. I am starting to get why Frank Cho got under his skin. Cho could draw, and improved his craft.

>>1006767

Yeah, I heard it had issues to do with Binwin. And how much he wanted to cash in on the podcast/games, before realizing at some point, the PAX brand dictated that yeah, he was a sideshow in the live games. As well, being a fat prima donna that clashed with the other prima donnas they were getting to play in their (e)celeb games.

God this is anti-humor. The joke isn't even set up.
