if i wanted to discuss korean manga, would this be the correct board to do so?

/a/ is a disaster and i believe they're strictly japanese+"what the tranny mod feels like". Delete thread if im in the wrong place pls.

We've had korean comic storytimes/ cartoon discussion before, I suppose it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities but I doubt you'd find people who saw the same material.

well which one would you recommend the most? i definitely recommend tales of the unusual, just a spooky thriller. its many different small stories every few chapters.

 No.1005695

>>1005691

Trace is a meh super hero story, tower of god is a neat power epoch it goes on and will go on forever so if you're not into it it's a tome of garbage and the MC is about as bland as they come it makes sense when you realize hes essentially a zombie. DICE was pretty great for a bit then it kind of dragged on and then instead of fucking ending the story it went through a soft reset, huge fucking blue balls. The gamer is my favorite but you either love it or are bored by it it's gone through an annoying slowdown but if you like watching a character slowly become OP it's definitely for you. Tales of demons and gods sucks imo i dropped it after binging it somehow feels slower than ToG which is fucking impressive seeing how many years ToG has been going and they're not even halfway up the 135 floors.

So definitely check out ToG and The Gamer.

i'd also recommend lookism. its a bit of a drag at the beginning but then it gets good when THOTS start getting BTFO, pic related. Its also ongoing weekly so by the end of it expect to be hooked on it.

>Tower of God

Don't spoil me this, please. I remember reading it and i got to the part where the bitch, i don't remember her name, i just call her the bitch, pretends to be in a wheelchair, and the autistic kid gets separated of the main team. I raged a lot, but i didn't continue reading because reasons.

Is it still going? Does it get better from there? Is it worth reading it again?

 No.1005727

>>1005719

There's good stuff ahead of you though the helltrain arc is a little painful (AND TECHNICALLY STILL NOT FUCKING OVER). Ms Bitch ups her bitchiness though she gets knocked down once or twice, people theorize she isn't dead so that she can witness baam climb the tower while she's denied the final steps and then glorious destroyed and sent to burn in hell for all eternity amen.

they're very lengthy and they also follow this weird korean format where the comic is like a single looooong scroll that you look at from top to bottom.

most often, the "pages" cut the images and dialogue balloons in half.

Ironically after this encounter with baam they won't meet each other again for years in real life and years in comic time. The mythic man month seems to apply to comics too, certain storylines just balloon and consume things that were frontloaded for later.

I can easily see this comic hitting the 15year or even two decade mark.

The art isn't horrible and it does improve, but it's not 8 years of studying improvement. I've never believed that rote practice makes you grow leaps and bounds and I think a lot of webcomics are proof of that. You need focused study.

ToG was pretty good, but I think it was better back when The Company was scanlating; though it would seem the translation quality has certainly improved over what it was at first. Rachel is incredibly mediocre, lazy, and not particularly bright, but why the massive hateboner for a character who hadn't successfully done anything wrong until waaaay late into Season 2? Hell, it took her until the Train Arc before she actually managed to kill anyone.

As for recommendations, I'd suggest Knight Run if you're into action/tragedy, or I Don't Want This Kind Of Hero if you want something more comedic. There's also Trace 2.0, which is the best of the Trace series, which follows a police officer who develops Iron Man-like mutant powers and fights terrorists but good fuckin luck finding it anywhere anymore. If you're a fan of character development, mystery/tragedy, and have more patience than you know what to do with, you could try reading Kubera. If you want something with better art and time loops you could try Fairytale for the Demon Lord.

>All that porn on pixiv

I'm more surprised to find out she's from a manhwa. I've read some myself, Witch Hunter, Lillith's String and Wake Up, Deadman. The last one is disappointing because the author is a Megalia supporter. The premise of his series was alright, but I stopped reading after the timeskip, and found out the MC became some sort of zombie rock star. I liked the Pitbull police officer the most, he had some really cool weapons.

Witch Hunter is ok, has cheesecake for days, and cemented my love for tomboys with short, red hair. However, I have not read it since Sasha's backstory began. I should get back to it.

Lilith's String is porn, plain and simple. Miku's in it too, if you like her (not really, but the girl in question is a serious miku rip-off, minus any ability to sing).

>crippled a guy

He got better. Besides, that scene was great for his reply to her leading up to it.

>tried to kill the MC

Many have done that, and they don't generate near as much salt for it.

>her dream is stupid

I'd say it's along the same lines as the wing tree organization's "find a way out of the Tower" objective; she's just more petty about it.

>she hid his identity from him

That's something that has only very recently come to light, but given how much Jealousy plays a part in her character it shouldn't be a surprise.

I'm not saying there's no good reason to hate her, I was just curious about how and why her character inexplicably generated so much salt that it spills over into completely different webcomics. People bitch and moan about Rachel in the comment section of every chapter, regardless of her presence in it, and continue that in other comics. She's a jealous, backstabbing cunt with a petty dream, in a Tower full of jealous, backstabbing cunts with petty dreams; but she's somehow worse than a billion niggers because she personally inconvenienced the MC.

She's the groups most persistent antagonist and all of her problems could be solved by getting over it

People say that if he wasn't "crippled" he would have been killed. Not sure if that was intentional or not, because while she's been shown hesitant to kill, it was definitely meant to be a fuck you to khun.

>>1005909

She and maybe androssi as a child are the only ones who have actually succeeded at backstabbing others. Also, some of the previous backstabbers were motivated by survival, coercion, or were intentionally self-destructive. She betrayed baam right after he saved her life, and with no discernible benefits for herself either. TOG also hasn't shown many relevant characters backstabbing others, since most of that seems to happen off screen recently.

There are too many unanswered questions about her, both in origin and motivation. Unless she knew baam would survive and join fug (she didn't seem surprised to see him again), I doubt getting her full backstory will stop the hate.

Wasn't she also supposed to tell khun about her backstory with baam after hoaquin lost?

Anyway, Manhwa in my opinion is pretty meh. It's essentially the same as Japan except it seems to more often have worse stories and art. I do kinda like Killing/Stalking, though, because I'm a moron. There's a reason for that format. Webtoons are rated based on how many look it and how long the looks AT it.

Another one is that content for about three pages on a strip loads faster than loading three pages, one at a time. That's important for a mobile devices.

What kills manhwa for me is the fact that it so rarely feels like it's got any identity to it. Every other one I've ever picked up has either wanted too much to be a manga, or aped Western graphic novels. It's kind of a problem with South Korea in general, really.

Webtoon has been worthless since it became the hip new place for SJW "so relatable" comics.

On legal paper, it is an adaptation. In reality, similarities are limited to the title, 'former priest' hunting evil creatures, and the 'western' desert wasteland element. Other than that, they have little in common, to the point where it would be difficult to associate the two if it wasn't for the title.

>>1008050

Wrong. Death Note has far more to do with its source than the Priest does. At least all main character are present, and general premise of the story is the same. This is not the case with both versions of the priest.

Comic is about a former catholic priest who researched occult for the church. He was cursed, became a psychopathic gunslinger, and wanders modern wild-west like wasteland hunting demons and their armies or possessed or reanimated dead.

Art is unique and very good, but not great. Book is mainly action driven, with significant chunk of the mostly competent story is told via flashbacks and dialogue exposition. It also has some philosophical exploration of religion, good and evil, atheism, and so on. It is an interesting read, but nothing amazing. It should probably be shorter than it is, and story properly takes off in the third volume. Protagonist looking a lot like Alucard might bother some.

Movie is about a warrior monk trained to hunt vampires, and is set in far future. People live in mega cities and everything outside of them is a wasteland with some western-like ghost towns. Vampire-hunter order was disbanded, and vampire hunting is no longer sanctioned by the church. However, the priest goes against higher-ups, and decides to leave to help a little town in the desert to fend off a vampire attack. Church sends people chasing after him.

It is just a generic action movie with a unique setting. Not particularly horrible, but not very good either.
