They finished 2 parts in 2012-13, part 3 was from 2013-14, part 4 was all of 2016 and Rohan OVA was 2017.
They finish a part in a year, while Araki took 4 years to finish Stone Ocean and 7 to finish SBR. Sure, those are longer parts and I'd fully expect SO to be as long as Part 3 was, and SBR to be even longer, but then they'd be out of source material, as there's no point doing only half of JoJolion, as that would put pressure onto Araki to churn out shit, not that JoJolion could get much worse in terms of pacing.
Adapting the side stories every 2nd year makes a lot of sense, as there's plenty of material that many of the manga fans from the 2000s wouldn't have read, so they can make that (a lot of the side stories don't feature as much stand use, so that's also a cost cut for animation) and even get Araki to give it a bit of a once over to try and make it more canon that it's current state.

Part VIII was shaping up to be really good… For about up until they killed Tamaki Damo, ending the entire Rock People arc on basically a "huh oh there's more of this shit" just like in Part 3 but much worse, revealed the goddamn flashback which was what actually kept the story from being fresh compared to already knowing the villain's motivations, removing any importance to the main family members but Joubin and putting Yasuho on a bus, despite the fact that her Stand would have been real convenient in locating the branch with or without the plant appraiser. Also, no one dies anymore, which is a fucking bummer, I remember how shocking Kakyoin's death felt in the manga and I still don't get why he's stopped doing these.
The part would have been a whole lotta better if Araki had kept the flashback up until like twentyish chapters from the ending, making it clear that Josefumi and Kira had some ulterior motive to fuse instead of it just being a last ditch effort to save their asses, the villain that flashed back in Josuke8's mind being one half of the crime syndicate (the other being Joubin himself, instead of revealing that he's the bad guy so early on) and having the Wall Eyes explained as Johnny's spirit having inhabited the land just like Jesus had with the Devil's Palm and him giving Stands to the people that fall within is a way to sort of equivalent-exchange a whole lot of pain for a super power. Would also have explained how Josuke8 is able to retain both Stands powers despite the Rokakaka only being used as a healing remedy.

I'll give another Part V boner, Ghiaccio (the icy dude Mista and Giorno fight on their way to Venice) is a huge autist that complains about people misspelling shit and not speaking Italian, but since the translation was real poor the guy behind it made him sound like he was praising French rather than Italian. It's things like these that fuck up an entire character.

Worse than that, I believe it was either Korean or French scans, but since they were in much higher quality than Duwang and were correctly formatted and with no apparent Engrish, people always assumed they were legit. I’m only a little bit in but so far they’re claiming Benimaru was copied by Araki, when in reality Benimaru was based off of Polnareff. KOF came out in 94, SDC in 1989.
Next they claim PB is skippable. I’m not a big fan of Phantom Blood, but it literally sets up the next five parts. THEN they complain it’s no gay enough. Lol. Next they complain Avdol is not called Abdul, which I actually agree with. They call the d’Arby prophets the “D’Arcy”s, think Araki hates dogs, which makes sense, but in actuality only villains kill dogs in JoJo to show how evil they are. They didn’t even go after the Deus ex Machina of an end fight.

My thought process is the names should've been fine as is under laws of parody but if that's not the case then even that can't apply to all the name changes. It's kind of depressing. We finally get Jojo in manga form but can't get the full genuine experience because of copyrights.
