>Amazon Studios today announced it has greenlit the hour-long animated series Invincible from acclaimed writer Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Oblivion Song) co-creator Cory Walker and artist Ryan Ottley.

>Based on the popular comic book series of the same name, the eight-episode series will premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories.

>Invincible is produced by Skybound, with Simon Racioppa (Teen Titans) serving as showrunner. The series is executive produced by Kirkman, Racioppa, David Alpert (The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead), Catherine Winder (The Angry Birds Movie, Star Wars: The Clone Wars) with Supervising Directors Justin & Chris Copeland (Avengers Assemble, Ultimate Spider-Man).

Invincible movie is supposedly still happening

>Amazon's series is happening "in conjunction" with the upcoming movie adaptation from writers/directors/producers Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen.

There are no news when it will come out, whether it will be a straight up adaptation, whether it will be 2D or 3D, or how much of the comic will be covered.

Does anyone even read it? It's one of those comics where every character looks like a nobody. The main character isn't visually interesting at all.

>(((Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen)))

Doomed from the start then.

I used to read it, but stopped somewhere around issue #100. It used to be very good take on a character who wants to live up to his father's legacy and juggles personal and superhero life. It was also a breath of fresh air at the time when DC and Marvel were starting to be more and more obsessed with events and cross-overs. But eventually is started going to shit.

It's one of those generic Superhero settings that slowly fills out and becomes interesting for it's own reasons, but a big part of why it's enjoyable is because it isn't bogged down in a century's worth of retcons, reboots, and crossovers. Plus you can get away with following the single run of the character and get everything you need out of the narrative.

will spiderman be in it

>Making a blank slate is better than continuing the shitstorm that is every other superhero setting

 No.1004145

>>1004131

Yeah, more or less. Marvel and DC aren't capable of competently executing a shared narrative universe in their comics. They can't even control their release schedule and have frequently spoiled reveals before they came up in the books they were supposed to happen in and then they drop half the plot threads they spent months setting up anyways.

That shit just makes me wonder why people still buy comicbooks.

 No.1004179

>>1004148

They basically don't. There's a reason why Manga will get four shelves at Barnes a Noble and American comics will get only one.

 No.1004181

Then why hasn't the comic industry crashed yet?

 No.1004190

>>1004181

Loyal autists, a broken system, and desperation. Disney and WB are propping up the comics divisions of Marvel and DC, and merch sales keep them afloat in some capacity, but I don't doubt for a second that they are hemorrhaging money. Some companies go billions of dollars into debt before they shut down, after all.

Good chunk of them does it out of habit. DC and Marvel are gonna be fucked once retail apocalypse will hit comic book stores seriously and cape films will stop being profitable. DC seems to be taking some steps do address that with their graphic novel exclusive imprints.

Literally this.

Imo, the series ended for me after the Viltrumite Cold War on Earth bit.

Can't wait for the special two part episode where Atom Eve murders their baby in the womb and then uses it as an excuse to get fat.

I came in late when it was already over and done with. I liked it so much that I wasn't able to put the damn volumes down, so to speak, and read the entire thing in a week. I like that it's over and done with and it took liberties that DC/Marvel isn't brave enough to do.

Really wished Mark retired the Invinsible alter-ego when the whole Dinosaurus debacle blew up in his face though and went around as just Mark the Viltrumite and just wore his house clothes saving people. Although that'd probably be too much like Brit.

How about the two part episode of Rex ruining loli Amanda with his escapade in the Flaxan dimension?
