Is there a way to make spam tastier?

It's tasty but feels like a fat dick to me.

 No.4259

>not liking the feel of fat dicks.

 No.4262

Make some beer batter and deep fry that shit. Make some steak cut chips and some mushy peas and you're gold.

You know you're supposed to slice it, right?

Thinly sliced spam, fried until it just starts to crisp

So nice

I like the rectangular slices, but for sandwiches, the square slices are OK

 No.5819

I have a sudden urge to julienne a spam (about 3/8"), batter it in corn dog batter, and fry them to excellence.

I like cutting those fried slices and putting it on rice to eat like sushi. Think there's something similar to that in Hawaii.

Spam Musubi

You don't have to buy a press, you can make one from a spam can

 No.5837

>>5819

that sounds crazy enough to end up really tasty

 No.7289

Lately, I've been slowly frying my spam slices on a dry pan until they darken somewhat and crisp noticeably. Good stuff.

The holidays are coming; maybe it's time to make a glazed spam or two. With the criss-cross cuts and the cloves and everything. Maybe go fancy, square slices, roast with pineapple rings.

 No.7323

Fry with pineapple.

Eat with rice.

A spam musubi press is also a mold to form the rice into spam shapes.

It's not really musubi if it's in the wrong shape, and the mold/form/press thing is fairly key to making the right shape.

In some places, Spam is a delicacy.

Maybe in texas.

Spam doesn't cost that much in Texas.

actually, Guam.

 No.7362

…what? Why the fuck would it be delicacy in a place that produces grass fed beef. That would be like saying electric cars are popular in Texas even though they produce most of the oil in the US.

Spam is popular in places that were brought up on it in the WWII era. Read a book.

 No.7378

can confirm, used to live there

 No.7391

What? Spam?

I thought that was something we're avoiding…

 No.7947

It's good with rice. But yeah, fry it up until it's crispier. Uncooked spam from the tin tastes like dog food.

And Hawaii. And basically just everywhere occupied by America during the second world war.

But yes, Guam's probably the biggest consumer of them all.

Reported for SPAM.

This is exactly why I am tempted to dig grandma's old meat slicer out of the basement.

Sure, I could roast a beef and shave it into sandwich pieces, but slicing SPAMs and summer sausages is what the thing was built for.

Hormel makes Spam. Hormel is based in Texas. Ergo, Spam is dirt cheap in Texas. Also, it doesn't move in volumes like the various Pacific Islands that the US was occupying during WW II.

 No.9741

>>9718

Are you in or near Texas?

How much does a (standard, 12 oz) can of SPAM cost at various retailers?

(AFAIK… Hormel operates many specialized plants around the country. Thought that SPAM was primarily out of Austin, MN.)

 No.9742

I don't understand the jab at Texas.

You some yankee jealous of our BBQ?

>>9718

>>9741

It's not exactly dirt cheap.

It's actually way fucking cheaper here to buy chicken or pork, hell even beef is cheaper per pound here than spam sometimes.

Just because it's made here doesn't mean it's cheaper.

Shiner beer is still more expensive than others in stores, and places that serve it put it on their imports list for pricing.
