Why are catholics and eastern orthodox plurality in favor of abortion?

83a5db  No.1394

Because they're unregenerate

To be fair, the actual teachings of those two religions condemn abortion.

That being said, there's a host of reasons why members of said religions would support it (reasons which include nominalism, rebellion, lukewarm faith, lack of the Gospel, etc.).

I think the most telling thing about this graph is that many outright heretical cults (JW's, Mormons, Assemblies of God, etc.) reject abortion out of hand, but nonetheless walk in grievous error and spiritual darkness.

To be sure, if a church endorses abortion it's time to leave, but it's not the only thing to look out for.

good point

What's the point to leave when the official doctrine is right but the public is opposed, though?

Let's say Episcopals condemn abortion (they don't) but they're still 79% in favor of it

Something is terribly wrong there

It depends on how the church is disciplining its members.

For example, if a church notes that a portion of its congregation believe something completely at odd with God's truth, and actually talks to them about it, but the errant members continue to call themselves members, then the church is fine.

However, if the church doesn't go out of its way to correct said members and the fullest extent of correction would be excommunicating them then it's time to start looking elsewhere.

Episcopalianism (and by extension, Anglicanism) is a hodge-podge of contradictory beliefs only held together by the flimsy idea of an "English Church".

You have at least three clear factions in it waiting to split at any time.

Any current Anglican/Episcopalian should examine the Scriptures in detail and leave it for the husk it is.

Also, John MacArthur discussed the idea of non-believers in a church in a sermon (vid related).
