The first thing to make clear is that the article only pertains to people who have undergone actual surgery, and not, in fact, chicks with dicks
A few anecdotal cases aren't worth much. There have been about 30 of the same "regret" cases circulating for the past 20 years
The conclusion is
>Let’s stop enabling the delusion that transition is the only answer. Let’s allow scientific research to flourish, no matter what the results show. Let’s look at the evidence and facts and encourage treatment options that address dangerous psychiatric conditions first. In that way, we can ensure the best outcomes for those who have gender dysphoria.
That's agreeable, and currently the research suggests that transitioning is the treatment for gender dsyphoria
What would you say to an article like this?
https://genderanalysis.net/2015/07/walt-heyer-and-sex-change-regret-gender-analysis-09/
>>2353742
No, I don't agree with that premise. I don't feel the need to call a feeling that your physical body doesn't sync well with your gender a "mental illness," and neither does the World Health Organization
>>2353746
https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/transsexualism-removed-world-health-organization-s-disease-manual-n885141
>The WHO said it moved the newly renamed “gender incongruence” to its list of “sexual health conditions" because "while evidence is now clear that it is not a mental disorder, and indeed classifying it in this can cause enormous stigma for people who are transgender, there remain significant health care needs that can best be met if the condition is coded under the ICD.”

I'd say nevermind Walt Heyer. Immediately after posting that article I kept googling, and I don't want to use him as an authoritative example. I don't think he's credible.
What I am finding is a bunch of statements from people in health care who echo the same predictions I made about there being massive social, political, and professional pressure to shut up and agree with the trans lobby, or otherwise lose their job.

This USA today article actually has more quotes than your nbc directly relating to the WHO from what I saw. In the entire section dedicated to why the WHO is making this change there is no mention as to why this change is being made other than "meeting significant health needs". Now all I'm saying is that they aren't laying out biological reasons as to why it's no longer a mental health disorder. They are simply saying ~ We are making this change because discrimination and providing healthcare ~
I don't see any actual evidence in a form of a comprehensive reproducible study or anything comparable in either of our articles.

BUT, if I can take it apart, I will spend the duration of my every visit here being as shitty as I possibly can, to you in particular.
Your second option is to ignore my challenge, blow me off, call me an idiot, and walk away. I'm a nice guy so hint: this is the smart choice.

I think that transition is the best method of treatment currently, but that doesn't mean that there might not be other forms of treatments that are just as if not more effective than our current means.
In the example with Body Integrity Disorder the go to solution isn't amputation or actually disabling the person through some other method.
I don't look at transition as an indulgence, but I think it should be the very last resort after all other medications and therapy is proven completely ineffectual for a patient.

That's not to say the boomer types don't appreciate or laud them, I just generally don't see them driving them. In Detroit the blacks tend toward castoff or secondhand hot 4 door Dodge Chargers (similar to how they picked up things like old Caprices, Mercury Marauders etc of yesteryear becausepolice auctions), I'll see midlife crisis types driving the mid-level 392 or scat pack Challengers; the hot and middle of the road Camaros and Mustangs seem to be driven by successful young men, V6 versions are driven by everyone- Things like the Hellcat or Demon are driven by believe it or not all walks of life, but all are itching for a street race; with possible erring toward young Saudi looking types if my stop light experiences are anything to go by.

Well then what's your general point? Stress is bad? Get real for a moment, stress is subjective to the person it affects and is so multi-faceted and predicated on the person painting with a broad brush is folly. There are people around here who would probably knock a year off their life driving because it psyches them out so much where it'd take a year of work stress that "really bugs me" to get to the same effect. It's mitigated in this massive non-issue when compared to other things harping on it is asinine; the amount of tar imbibed by like 90% of the people here when they smoke the evening joint has a quantifiable impact that I don't see anyone bitching about but were that even comparable- I've made the active choice to stress in the capacity I like now because it gets results I want.

Well yes, painting with a broad brush is not ideal. My last post was kinda all about not doing that. My general point isn't that stress is bad, more that too much of it can be harmful. Also idk where smoking came into this... you kinda seem to be going off on tangents
Also by the by it's nice that you get the results you want but I feel you're missing what those results are potentially costing you
e1cd58 No.2353859

I go on the tangent of smoking because the sort of people here tend to be the type that live in glass houses while throwing stones- Bitching about something like my high-strung tendencies (of questionable exact health impact) whilst imbibing various drugs, becoming obese or wallowing in depression. If the crux of a person's argument (like yours seemed to be) is health impact then you're barking up the wrong tree.
What is it costing me, though?

I have a hot take for all those zoomer thinkpiece writers who keep shilling the "ban cars" message and find nothing objectionable about that notion- Instead we ban recreational electricity use! Would be interesting to see how people kneejerk it to that big brain idea.

Sorta depends on how you define "first car." For all intents and purposes I consider my GTO to be my first car- I technically had a '92 Camaro before that but that's a weird story. There was another car that had my name on the title when I was 13 if that's your metric, I had a shitty Ford pickup before that I traded a couple of chainsaws to get off a neighbor- And before that when I was ten there was a car TENTATIVELY mine on the grounds of my Dad was teaching me to drive circle track in it that he eventually let me go out in by myself; the grounds for being "mine" was the phrase "I don't give a shit if you wrap it around a tree, flip the damn thing or whatever you do to the car, always wear a helmet and always protect your head; everything else can be fixed." That was an '89 9C1 Caprice- There's been a few Crapaliers and trucks in between there and various other shit I get hazy on- But basically first car at a stretch: '89 Chevy Caprice, what I consider my first car; '68 Pontiac GTO.
