It ran butter smooth before the update 4 days ago without hardware acceleration. Now, you absolutely have to, or it'll run at like 5fps. Enabling it on desktop does fix it, but not on laptop.

playing chords on one instrument creates a distortion effect because of the tiny delay in hitting the strings and forcing it through one channel, if you record both lines individually you get a "harmony", which sounds cleaner
basically if you try to play harmonies on one instrument you get 100% black metal without fail
