The author of the book "Guts 'n Gunships" (callsign Pigpen in the video), wrote this on a reddit thread.
"It was incredible. That day, I got hit with 2 RPGs in the rocket pods, hanging them up in flames and the jettison systems were shot out and so were the miniguns. The back crewchief and gunner had to get out of the aircraft on the skids at more than 120 knots( I had to gain airspeed to keep the flames the licking at the rocket warheads and blow them back toward the fuel cell--it was a judgment call) and the crew kicked them off before we blew up. In the meantime an enemy round activated a red smoke grenade and threw it into an M60 ammo box and we went IFR(blind) in the cockpit and the hot grenade started cooking rounds off to keep us from getting bored. Another couple of dozen AK rounds made a transient visit through the aircraft and some other explosive round came through the cockpit floor and made it's exit out the door. After painting a bullseye on my helmet, I was too busy hanging my head out the other door so I could see where in the Hell I was going because of the smoke grenade. When I finally could see, I saw we were headed for a ridge line so I flared and we cleared it with the belly of the aircraft brushing the trees. Then we had an electrical fire in the cockpit we had to deal with. SO, yeah, archaway, although I was OK in the air, when I got back to base on terra firma, it was as if I had Parkinson's. I could hardly hold a beer w/o spilling it!"

Smokey tells stories in that same kind of flippant way; funny as hell- There's a chapter in his autobiography where he recalls landing a B17 after his appendix burst in the air and he passes out once it's on the ground, wakes up in the infirmary and he said something to the effect of "I had definitely thought I died and went to hell there for a minute because when I was lucid I had been absolutely certain hell looked a lot like the army."
"The World According to Smokey"
Iffin' you ever wanna look it up.
