My grandma died awhile back. I felt sad, but not deeply so.

My mother has essentially abandoned the family. I feel nothing.
My dad might die tomorrow, and I doubt I will be crushed.
I do love all of them, but they most of them never had a profound impact on my life. Nothing life changing. None of them ever really made me happy and joyous. I don't have the high, so I don't have the low.
Now as far as relationships are concerned, I have had my share. And I have been head over heels in love, though I can't even fathom how I felt now. I had lots of great moments, and had the world on a string. And when they ended, I was devastated, one way or another. But that low, it helps highlight the ups. It makes the ups so much sweeter in the present. It makes tomorrow unimportant. So long as you have a roof over your head, a job, a meal. As long as your basic needs are met, tomorrow means nothing. But today is fleeting. And those happy moments, yeah, they might not last, so drink up that sweet nectar.

I understand. Not trying to pry, just trying to understand. I can understand the fear of a misstep that might push people away. But you seem to know all the basic answers. And I have no nuggets of gold off the top of my head you haven't heard before. And with an unknown in play, I have no idea which way to leap.
All I can say is that no matter what is going on with you, think will be ok. There is little you can do accidentally that would cause huge, irreparable damage to relationships. Try not to stress about things that might be. Just be open and honest to those you care about. Try to learn to trust, fully.
