I used to have a problem with springtail infestations in my terrarium with the snails, as uneaten/moldy food would breed small clouds of tiny white bugs (springtails)
But with the addition of the larger, mobile wood bugs (roly-polys) they drastically cut down the springtail population because they are bigger, faster, and eat more.. making it harder for any springtail colonies to get a footing. (They are still around, they are micro-janitors)
