Actually I've rarely ever had issues with Arch. I update daily and haven't ever had a major problem. When I was starting out, for a while I couldn't turn off my laptop properly, but now I think it was due to one of my own errors.

Most distros really just work nowadays, really. The bleeding edge version of Arch will always have more quirks than a few others, but that doesn't mean it's unusable~
I run Sid myself which sometimes does get updates that breaks something, but all you gotta do is just reinstall the previous version of the package that broke something and then wait a few days (tops), for the new version to fix it.
Arch being broke and unstable is just a dumb meme~
And it's not like Windows right now is any better. People with both modern Intel and AMD chips are reporting that their systems are left in an unbootable state after the Spectre and Meltdown patches hit

Yeah, and Arch's instabilities can often be fixed by simple googling. Although nowadays the problems I get are very very specific to my hardware, so they're rare. The rest is pretty much covered by my conf.

Only problems I get are caused from running mesa off git, which can be fixed by keeping the 20 or so packages from the previous version around in a folder which you can reinstall should you end up with corrupted graphics or no display.

I mean, Linux isn't much better in that regard. Sometimes you have to manually restart the service, or restart Xorg to get the latest version of some package running. And if you have to restart X, you might as well just reboot.

Well. There's a thing called kexec, which allows you to load the new kernel into memory and then "reboot" into that. Shouldn't even be necessary to do a proper reboot in order to use the new kernel.
Never tried it, but it's apparently something some do in order to minimize downtime.
