A story about Ainsworth Ooal Gowington and his lovley Japanese child bride going on a simultaneously dramatic yet whimsical adventure through the world of fantasy. Also, some effeminate jew shows up and ruins everything. I only read the manga, should I try seeing the anime?

Chise looks really pretty in the screenshots.

 No.5354

Anime's pretty faithful to the manga for the most part, outside of a couple scenes that were altered for some reason. The same studio also made an OVA that takes place before the beginning of the manga that's not half bad.

>some effeminate jew

You mean the Wandering Jew?

http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/14773-wandering-jew

He also made in appearance in Franken Fran.

 No.5358

Except the one in Franken Fran wasn't drawn a girl and called a boy.

 No.5359

>>5356

That Franken Fran chapter got me emotional.

 No.5370

>>5186

I've been watching the anime but haven't read the manga. It's pretty boring shoujo stuff but it's pretty, has a nice soundtrack, and is overall just fairly solid if you don't have ADHD.

 No.5405

>>5370

Technically this is actually a shonen.

 No.5517

Anime brushes past arcs way too fast. The manga is a lot more paced and comfy. I recommend it to anyone who likes supernatural fantasy that isn't another MMO story.

 No.5521

Wasn't it hinted that Ainsworth is a Wendigo that migrated to Europe from North America?

So that's where the term "eternal jew" originated from huh? Quite the interesting legend, never heard of it even though I live in Europe, I'm guessing it's because everyone here is afraid to talk about anything vaguely related to WWII.

 No.5585

bullshit. The men are too pretty and everybody loves the girl MC.

 No.5592

>>5585

Check it, it's a shounen.

>The men are too pretty

There have been shonen with a lot of pretty boys.

>everybody loves the girl MC.

Because she's a likable character overall. That's a given. This isn't a shoujo.

 No.5597

>>5585

Ancient Magus Bride is definitely a shonen. The target demographic is shonen and it is featured in a shonen magazine called the Monthly Comic Garden, which is the same magazine that hosts this shonen >>5305

You're just use to shonen being from Jump magazine, which uses a similar formula for most of their stories. Jump magazine is a popular normalfag entry level shonen magazine.

 No.5599

>>5597

Shounen is a popular normalfag entry level

 No.5603

>>5599

The Jump variety even more so. Most of the shit that gets normalfags are from Jump.

Hey idiots. Shounen is just the publisher, it's still written by a woman.

>Four years ago, Kore Yamazaki made her debut as a manga artist. Today, she’s the writer and artist of the internationally acclaimed manga and anime, The Ancient Magus’ Bride.

 No.5608

who's the tranny in your pic?

 No.5612

>>5607

Shonen is a demographic, not a publisher. Shonen doesn't all come from Jump. And women could write shonen, D. Gray-man is written by a woman that works for Jump magazine.

 No.5614

>>5612

Youre missing the entire point of >>5370 >>5585 which is what spawned this entire aside. The fact that it FEELS like a shoujo. Actually read the interview with the writer and she goes on at length about the female perspective she brings to the manga.

hey retard, woman write shounen all the time

magaize dictates who the fuck buys it

kys

 No.5617

I'm not arguing that it doesn't feel like a shoujo at times. But I'm calling out the guy that said it isn't a shonen.

 No.5618

>hurr durr if it says Shounen on it it MUST look and feel like a Shounen!!!!!

Your a fucking human wasteland. You piece of shit. I bet you loved the new Star Wars to. I cant kys, until youre dead, youre everything thats wrong with the world you unthinking retard.

 No.5621

Mitsuboshi Colors is shonen too and also not from Jump. Check out other shonen not published by Jump magazine.

 No.5622

>>5617

So any manga can be shounen as long as the original writers calls it that? So an artist/writer can make a manga filled with shitty shoujo tropes, release it into a shoujo magazine yet call it a "shounen" in an interview and then it's still considered to be one?

 No.5624

>>5622

If this was a shoujo, Ainsworth would be a teenage pretty boy p, she'd go to school and would have magical girl transformation sequences as well as a shoujo style villain and more cute critters of simple design. This doesn't follow the typical shoujo tropes, but the shonen tropes you would say it lacks are Jump's tropes and they don't own all shonen. You'd have a better argument of this being a Josei since it carries a bit of Josei tropes.

 No.5626

>>5624

He did show his human form pretty early and it was pretty.

Also you need to read more shoujo. The tropes are there.

 No.5705

>>5405

Say what you want, it's definitely a shoujo because nothing ever fucking happens in this show. Pretty though.

 No.5709

>>5705

You could say the same with any other shonen and seinen. Mitsuboshi Colors is shonen. Shonen is a demographic of young boys, there's various genres in shonen oriented anime and manga with different kinds of story telling. If this series was Jump, it would have shoehorned power levels and tournament arcs like any other Jump series. Go read other shonen magazines such as the Monthly Comic Garden and Bessatsu shonen magazine.

Flying Witch and Ichigo Mashimaro are also shonen. Funny enough that equally cutesy shows like Is the Order a Rabbit?, Non Non Biyori and K-On are seinen.

 No.13634

I'm not used to stuff actually happening in this show and the plot moving forward. I was a bit confused about what was going on in the beginning of the episode because time had passed since the end of episode 18. Maybe the cliffhanger at the end of this episode will even take more than five seconds to be resolved at the beginning of the next one.

 No.13747

This fucking guy. By you're logic every long running WSJ series is seinen because the author that made them are middle age men.

The manga sure has gone in some strange directions. I sure didn't expect Ainsworth to try and sacrifice that girl to save Chise and Chise to make a deal with Cartaphilus. I have a feeling it's gonna end soon, and I just hope it doesn't end too bittersweetly.
