There's a lot of different idol shows nowadays and they're only getting more popular, since the rise of CGI allows cheap and fluid dancing. All of them are extremely kino, with a multitude of songs/dances and at least 1 guaranteed every single episode.
These two are the big two right now, I would say, but it's only a matter of time until someone tries to butt in on their rivalry. I've even heard rumors on the grapevine of a Chinese produced one!

I could never get into Aikatsu or Pripara due to the horrible CG. Love Live is absolute garbage with the character seemingly having a standard set of obnoxious lines which they repeat every episode.
I did try out Idolmaster a few months ago and really enjoyed it, probably because it's more of a SOL show about idols than a show that fully focuses on concerts and music and stuff like that. So yeah, I'd like more idol anime like Idolmaster that actually try to have a fun character cast rather than just focus on the songs and dancing.

Dumbass tbh. CG is a miracle. It is a wonderful invention that grants us increasingly more idol shows as the years go by. Either learn to appreciate it, or go home. Also it looks great and is only getting more and more fine tuned. Newest Aikatsu has fantastic models and dancing and Pripara aint too shabby either.
I can see why you'd dislike 1st season Aikatsu though. That was some janky looking shit. Not as bad as Pretty Rhythm though.
