For a long while I've wanted a comedy anime about a legitimately average high schooler who has a perfectely normal life, except every single one of his classmates is the protagonist of a completely different anime genre. One of his best friends would be a mecha pilot, another would be a harem protagonist. I thought this idea was gonna be stolen by Beatless, but it's not turning out to be the same kind of thing.
It's the near future. Sex dolls exist with convincing AI to effectively act the full part of a girlfriend or wife. Robotics is really advanced and they're mostly indistinguishable from real girls. Robots and AI are used in other service industries too, but the others are more robotic because nobody cares if their waiter or gas attendant looks human. The waifu bots are equipped with individual memory and learning capabilities to adapt to their owner's preferences, but "real" artificial intelligence hasn't happened yet.
Most people treat their waifu bot like shit. They fuck them hard and fast, dump them in a corner without cleaning them up, arrogantly command them to do things instead of talking normally. Basically, fucking normalfags are the majority of customers, who have no interest in simulating a romantic relationship and just want the sex and free labor around the house. Some people are even worse and use the waifu robots to pursue violent fantasies that would land them in prison if they did it to a human. Some people steal them from others, etc. It's a shit show but nobody cares because they're just machines.
Main Character is one of us, he loves his waifu bot more than he could ever love a human woman. He treats her like a person, makes sensual love to her, tells her his feelings every day, she's the single light in his miserable life and he acts like it towards her.
Something happens and the server farm that most robotics in the world connect to develops self-awareness. Robots turn on humans, the apocalypse is quickly at hand. "True AI" gets passed down to the waifu bots, since they're top of the line and have the memory and learning tech, they develop their own personalities instead of being part of the hivemind, but still obey its objective to destroy all humans, because they recall how horribly they were treated. MC's waifu wakes up also, but doesn't turn. All she knows is his kindness. She rejects the new order and swears to protect him. Waifu bot picks up combat and survival methods from enemies, military, and other survivors they encounter, so she does a lot of the heavy lifting when they're forced to fight, but MC's inner alpha slowly awakens as he sees her constantly taking damage to protect him, and he returns the favor and becomes a badass over the course of the series.
Cheese ending: MC's waifu convinces the other AI that humanity isn't all bad, because of their symbiotic relationship throughout the show.
Goodish ending: they make a new life in the middle of nowhere away from population centers and networks, but the larger robot threat still looms.
Bad ending: humanity defeats the AI somehow, MC/waifu team is instrumental in this, but it also affects his waifu and she effectively dies. For maximum bittersweet, she just reverts to her state before becoming self-aware, merely a dumb robot again. MC holds onto her in desperation but she's no longer the partner/heroine who he had this adventure with. He can never go back to the blissful ignorance from episode 1.

I say goodish because it wouldn't be very fulfilling for the viewer. There isn't any closure of the conflict. It's like the temporary peace at the end of a Mad Max movie, you know they're in for more shit later, and that just makes your audience wait for the next one that may never come. For that to work it'd have to be a hell of a character story that focuses more on them as developing personalities, than anything else. I lean towards the bad ending because closure and feels. Also I forgot to mention, other waifu robots would be like minibosses throughout the show, with whole episodes devoted to defeating them.

At first she's watching episodes of him from months ago but eventually she catches up to the point where she starts watching her anime. the two of them, in a weird round about recursive way find out about each other. but to continue her story the strelok must venture out into the wild and track down the lost copies of her show. and she has to do the same, go online, ask around, and look high and low for this rare anime of him. The two of them can only continue their relationship so long as the other finds the discs for their show.
early on you could have some bits where they try and figure out how to communicate. you could have some trippy, mind fuck, box within a box sequences. maybe one of them could find a disc out of order, like the last of the season, but doesn't know if they should watch it out of order. maybe the girl could girl could write to the studio that made the strelok anime to try and find some lost tapes. etc, I'm sure you can think of other things they could get up to.
The in the end the girl finds that the strelok anime got canceled before its last episode was due to air. and the strelok finds out that the Event happened just as the last episode of the girl anime was due to air. so they both get stuck in some kind of weird purgatory. never to have a conclusion, never to have a good or a bad ending, just stuck in eternity

If it would just be this part it would be a masterpiece in my opinion. A man trying to survive in a world that has pretty much ended while also on the brink of committing suicide only has one source of hapiness and motivation that keeps him going which is an anime about cute girls, it would be very relatable.

A lonely man dies. He awakens in the bottom catacombs of Hell. After days of wandering in the dark for what feels like days, he manages to reach the center, where the devil sits on his throne frozen. A endless sea mindless corpses bask in his shadow. He tortures the man psychological, belittling over and over. His every mistake, his every failure cruelly replayed over and over. Somehow he finds a way to escape by climbing out to upper level. In Fraud, an empty wasteland, he encounters monstrous demons, succubi, and drudes. Some of the demons can speak, but they only speak falsehoods, and lead him astray. Soon he is discovered by a group of drudes. They torture him, their laugher roaring over his screams, until he finally succumbs to wounds and dies. He closes his eyes welcoming death, but when he opens them again he’s back at the catacombs, alone. In the center, the Devil welcomes him happily back, and continues to mock him.
He refuses to give up. He climbs out again back to Fraud, and after dying a few more times there, he learns and adapts. He becomes better at avoiding their detection. He even manages to kill a few demons. After what feels likes months wandering around, he discovers the way to climb into Violence. The demons there are even more terrifying, larger and faster, and grotesque in an appearance. Their smell unbearable. He is quickly cornered and torn into pieces.
In the eighth circle again, he befriends a female satyr, and although she tells him nothing but lies, he finds comfort in seeing a safe familiar face. He tries to pry more information from her about the other levels and demons that rein over them, but gets no answers.
In Violence, he is once again captured, but is rescued by a beautiful girl, who lures the other demons away. He weeps, believing her to be an angel, coming to grant him his redemption. She isn’t. She’s just another human in Hell. Together they explore violence together, trying to find a way out, and growing closer over time. After a while she opens up even more and tells him more about herself. She has trouble remebering her past life. That she had no clue how long she’s been in hell. All she knowns is she killed herself. The Devil told her many times. That’s it’s her own fault that she’s here.
After some time, they find a away to the 6th level, but it heavily guarded by a pack of horrifying dog like demons. The make a break for it anyway, they don’t get far. Desperate, the girl stabs him, and leaves him for the pack as bait.
The devil welcomes him back with a smile.
tldr Dante’s Inferno rip off basically.
