Would any one be interested in a classic robot series stream night? I'm thinking a couple of episodes of MightGaine, Xabungle, Orguss, Dragonar, Jushin Liger, really old school mecha stuff no one really pays attention to.
I've been meaning to watch some of these but never getting round to it so it gives me an excuse to do so.

If /m/ turns up then they do but I don't want to go and invite them. 8/m/s BO is a tripfag who has been tripfagging for literally years at this point. I don't like tripfags and I don't care to invite people who don't respect image board's anti-namefagging nature. TBH if the BO turned up using his name I'd ban him on the spot. I'm an oldfag and while names outside of image boards don't bother me names within image boards annoy the piss out of me.

2017.
If it's something that's rarely watched then I will consider it. The main focus will be 80s and 90s series that are known but rarely watched (like they feature in SRWs a lot). But if there's a 2000 series that looks cool as hell and isn't like Code Geass or Gundam then I'll throw it in if everyone wants to watch it.

Might want to consider how you're going to block stuff up, assuming you're just going to be streaming a handful at a time. Just saying since from what I'm aware, RahXephon has a number of intentional similarities to Brave Raideen, which might be fun for regulars watching to note down the line if RahXephon were to be shown after finishing running Raideen first.
>>37834
Seconding Gun X Sword, unless OP considers it to be known enough amongst anons as is, given /m/ of old apparently spoke quite highly of it. Though, I suppose knowing of it doesn't necessarily mean actually having watched it (and in my opinion, it's definitely worth going through; OST's great as well).
No.37847
>>37834
GaoGaiGar will go on the list but I'd like to see more Brave stuff first. It plays off the other series and no body watches them so they don't get the most out of the series.
Gorg could be on the list but I didn't see it on youtube subbed and that's the easiest place to start for cytube. Once we get rolling we can use other video hosts who don't care about copyright and I'll upload entire series if I can't find them outside of torrents.
>>37844
Gun x Sword looks good. I like 90's mecha, it's the peak of animation and style but it's often hard to find. If it's not Gundam or Eva it gets rather side lined.
First night or two will just be test nights. Either 1 or 2 episodes of a few different series. We can decide which we want to watch more of and which we don't. If there are series which play off each other it might be best to stack them so one follows the other.
Known and watched aren't the same thing. Old /m/ had loads of shit like Getter and Mazinger which everyone knows but no one watched. They took their knowledge from wikis and SRWs.
I'm even happy to include stuff as it airs or stuff that's just going to be fun to shit talk (Maybe do Eva for a giggle once we get rolling)

I don't know if it will be in the first rotation. We're looking at about 5 shows. There's a couple I definitely want in the first few series but it's mostly up to what people want to watch.
Hopefully we will get a handful of regulars who always turn up. If we have a group of at least five who are active in chat I'm sure we will get people dropping in for 1 series or another. It's getting that core group off the ground so it's not just me sitting on my own quietly masturbating to Getter 3.

>>37892
Correct. Most of them are untranslated but some of them are. Mightgaine is one of the ones that's translated and a few others can be found if you look hard enough. Depending on the series we might even dip into HK subs for something basic weebs could understand subless for the most part and that have really funny subs. Part of old school /m/ board culture was laughing at HK subs while having no other option but to watch them. I would like to include that when it's suitable. I won't sabotage a series if there are better subs out there though.
Betterman has links to GaoGaiGar in Final. They included a few things which tie the series together but it wasn't any sort of major plot point.

The closest Gundam has to getting in is a 1 night only special where one of the compilation movies are aired since most of those contain new footage and are not watched. Depending on how big the cross over with the other streams here is we may do a movie night often or we may do it rarely. I'm trying not to step on any one's toes here.

If I host it any later it becomes difficult for Europeans to watch the stream. Starting at 11pm GMT is midnight in mainland Europe and 7pm for the most common time zone in the US. It's the happy medium which gives the most people a chance to watch it if they're interested. By 7pm people should be home from work and have had time to get settled and a 2am end time isn't too bad for Eurobros. We had 7-8 people through the entire stream last night and an active chat. That's pretty good numbers for a first time stream from 8ch and even better considering it's a niche genre of 80's mecha series which isn't well represented on 8ch in general.
There's no good solution to the time zones and I'm not willing to sit up til 5am hosting a robots cartoon stream. I'm leaving the episodes to loop after each stream so you can always watch them on your own time later. It matches up with the other stream being hosted here and frankly I'm sick of American centric streams which don't start until it's nearly sunrise in Europe. If it doesn't suit you then tough shit, there's plenty of streams aimed at your time zone.

That's actually a really big point. Far too many things on 8chan cater to Burgers and exclude Eurofags or Ausfags which is why 8chan has bleed a lot of anons from those timezones over the past few years. There's was also a few Eurofags I know who didn't show up for this stream cause they automatically assumed it was going to be Burger only. Don't worry I called them idiots.

How are you not waking up by 11pm/6pm/midnight? Unless you're an aussie in which case you're fucked. Have to set your kangaroo clock to punch you a bit early
>>38069
You tend to find more Europeans and Aussies in old school mecha communities. There's quite a big history of Mecha series getting Italian dubs and shown on TV there which spreads them around. The yanks I've found as pretty cool because it works as a good filter for the plebs, they aren't willing to watch the older animation. Tell them to come along next time. I'd love to make a hub where old /m/echanics can watch stuff together. The old school fans have all been driven out by the 2010's CGI fests, would be nice to pull some of them back together again.
8ch bleeding users was a lot to do with the state of /pol/, I know where some of them went but they became their own little circle jerk who define themselves as "I'm not 8ch/cuckchan" rather than their own thing. Isn't much use for them.
Man that scene came out of no where. You have this really dry uninteresting opening, the second half of the episode looks good but everyones playing space invaders instead of using their robots in human form. Then out of no where you have yuri double tentacle rape. It's like a clickbait "coming soon!" ending when the episode turned out to be boring and they needed a hook.

Unfortunately Gun X Sword was region locked out of the US. I'm guessing we have a few US guys so I decided to replace it with Gear fighter Dendoh. It's a series that lurked around for a while but has been all but buried. I had wanted some Getter but most of it is too old and monster of the week to sustain a stream. It's probably watchable but it's not something you can really discuss and have fun with.
Schedule is

New Kotetsushin Jeeg 1
3 minutes intermission
Daitarn 3 1
Mobile police Patlabor 1
3 minute intermission
Gear Fighter Dendoh 1
This brings us to a solid 2 hours. After tonight we'll pick the best 5 of the 10 series shown so far and stream them from that point forward. If a series becomes boring and enough people want to switch it out we'll do so.
I've come down with a cold so I may be asleep at start time. Don't panic just use the skip button on the far right of the player to skip to the Mazinkaiser. It requires multiple people to skip but it can be done over and over. There's mecha concerts playing until roughly the start time.

I haven't been part of these streams (yet), could you explain what you mean with this? Do you mean that Cytube doesn't allow copyrighted content to be streamed or that you only stream stuff that can be found on anime streaming sites? If it's the latter, I'm pretty sure 9anime should have it.

Cytube is a place that auto syncs things for you. You put up a list of say youtube videos which then play for everyone at the same time. There's no sites supported by it which don't have bad copyright policies. The only other option is to stream and I'm not a fan of that as host. It means I can't do anything involving sound on my computer at the same time. If I wanted to check a reference or find a video for the intermission I might fuck up the audio for everyone else. I can stream the files directly but OBS doesn't appear to support MKV subtitles so everything would need to be hard subbed. The other problem is the only streaming platform left is Vaughn which slaps "no hate speech" over the top of every chat box. We're begging to be shut down with the type of jokes we make.
I can look into other cytube alternatives that support more sites. There has to be some sketchy site which lets you sync up animu shit together.
>>40702
I watched it a while back. It's a decent nostalgia flick that shows off the Mazingers but it doesn't really offer much in the way of shit talking. There's some incest jokes to be made and Boss being Boss but that's not sustaining a 90 minute stream. If people want it bad enough I could host a movie night on a weekend.

Advertise the normal stream night among friends and any where you think would appreciate what we're doing. I've tried to balance Real and Super shows to give us a decent range for everyone. 8ch standards apply though, if we get an SJWs whining about nigger jokes or raiders trying to be disruptive they can be Banj_ed the fuck out of there.
If you're enjoying the stream nights make sure to use the thread. Stream related or just general mecha talk is fine. Also, if I'm still alive, would you guys be up for another stream around Christmas with 0080? part of a /m/ tradition where we gather round the fire and watch a child commit a series of war crimes

Sounds good. If you can find some suitable content we could do a summer and an autumn stream night as well. Autumn is probably the most difficult.

I misread that as asking for me to host it. Dude, the more mecha streams the better. If you want to do a stream go for it. I'd love more of them and I've been meaning to rewatch some of the earlier Gundam stuff I watched years ago now.

Well fuck, you're not the only ones who missed it guys. I woke up thinking I'm glad it's Tuesday because if it was Wednesday I missed a streaming night.. well it is Wednesday. Fuck.
I apologise guys. I've got a bad cold and my sleeping schedule is completely fucked. I can do the stream on another night this week as catch up or we can just resume as normal next week.

I might do a stream when I have free time
SUPAIDANMAN
Zambot 3
Tetsujin No. 28 Gou
Mobile Suit Gundam (TV)
Providing I have the will power to press on I might do either Brigadoon or Detonator Orgun as extras.

Not really, the first tokusatsu were in the 60s, supaidaman was 78 or so. It's a good series but not what birthed the genre. Even the original TV adaptation of Kamen Rider predates it
Still will be fun to watch.

Pretty sure the original Skull Man one-shot was before that as well. And that work was the direct predecessor to Kamen Rider, being that Ishinomori got told to go back to the drawing board because the studio couldn't aim a vengeful serial murdering edgelord antihero as a protagonist at kids (and thus wouldn't be able to merchandise the fuck out of it).

All stream nights are here by cancelled.
The BO decided that he wanted to moderate his board like it was /b/ and fuck with users posts. If I cannot trust what I post to remain as I post it then I don't care to be on that board. Since the BO has edited a post with no questionable content I must assume he's willing to fuck with posts here on a whim. I don't care for /b/ style moderation and I won't try to build sub communities on a board that does that sort of thing.
I posted about it in the meta thread and the problem wasn't resolved while he was happy to post responses to obvious bait. If that's the way he wants to behave I'm leaving the board and won't run any events for it.
You were a decent group of lads but I want nothing to do with this board.

regarding future streams:
if you have hardsubbed videos in h264/aac (if its .mp4 and not tagged HEVC/x265 you're safe) you can upload them directly to google drive
if not you can burn in the subtitles with ffmpeg relatively quickly, then upload them directly to google drive (see below)
once they are on google drive you right click on the file -> get sharable link -> share settings -> "anyone with link can view" (this is important)
google will process the video (about 5 minutes for a 20 minute video about, I believe they transcode it to 480p, 360p during this time) then it's ready to be shared on cytube
the upload itself shouldn't take very long, at 20 mbps a 210 MB file took around 4 minutes total.
nerd shit:
using a 1080ti for reference, I encoded a test video (happy sugar life episode 6) in about 5 minutes for 2pass
file size balloons a bit to 210 MB at cq 26 (from 178MB), but is nigh indistinguishable from the source
ffmpeg -i "[HorribleSubs] Happy Sugar Life - 06 [720p].mkv" -vf subtitles="\[HorribleSubs\] Happy Sugar Life - 06 \[720p\].mkv" -c:v h264_nvenc -cq 26 -preset slow -pixel_format yuv420p -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ac 2 hsl06_final.mp4
using a software encoder is roughly 10 times slower but you'll get a smaller filesize in return - not really worth it
