>Intro to a fishing show not excepting much

>Has rock techno music

>The intro ends with a animated segment referring fist of the North Star

How popular is anime in the mainstream? This is he first time I seen a anime reference in something that isn’t DBZ, sailor moon, Pokémon or Yu-Gi.oh.

Fist of the North Star was a little more mainstream in the 80s to 90s.

 No.35075

I think that’s something to do with American outdoors show Revolving around hunting and fishing being popular in japan for some reason. Hell Gun & Ammo magazine does business in japan. If I am not mistaken.

Fist of the North Star is a bit more obscure than something like DBZ but it's still fairly normalfag friendly. I've noticed that some posters on other boards tend to think anime is "mainstream" but that's not quite true. I think that perception comes from people that are still in college or people that watch weeb youtubers, weeb streamers on Twitch, and hang out in cancerous dumps like anitwitter and faggy https://hooktube.com/watch?v=QN_6AZT92pU& servers.

In reality the average normalfag knows "of" anime but is rather indifferent towards it. Normalfags are still primarily interested in sportsball, substance abuse, and using social media to get themselves stuck up some roastie's ass during their free time to get laid. At my workplace I know of one weeb from the IT department that is a CR subscribing shonentard that no one likes. All the other nerdy types are mostly into Soy Wars, shitty AAA video games, and Marvel shit.

Strangely enough I've known a few rednecks and ex-military that had a thing for anime, granted most of it was entry-level stuff, but that's still kinda rare.

Anime is still niche but there's more semi normalfags that are into anime these days.

 No.35182

Anime is certainly becoming more mainstream, for better or worse, even imageboards are mainstream now, pretty much every hobby is this these days

But they only really care about seasonal trash though. A lot of them can't or don't want to watch the classics because they only watch anime to have something to talk about with their diskike friends.

Cuckchan =/= imageboards in general

Japanese tourists come to Seattle for fishing trips.

 No.35208

Honestly, the anime that's becoming mainstream was always normalfag-friendly and western. I'd be concerned if CGDCT ever became genuinely popular in America, though.

Growing up, I knew a hapa whose mother met his father during one of her yearly trips to the Grand Canyon.
